All-new 2025 Nissan Patrol makes its global debut in Abu Dhabi
5,000 automotive experts developed the Y63
Nissan Motor Corporation (Nissan) celebrated the world premiere of its all-new 2025 Patrol (Y63) SUV on September 3, 2024, in Abu Dhabi City, United Arab Emirates.
At an exclusive launch event held at ADNEC Marina in the UAE capital, and speaking against a gigantic digital landscape of Abu Dhabi Citty’s skyline and desert dunes, Makoto Uchida, Nissan’s President and CEO, revealed the seventh-generation Patrol to an audience of royals, VIPs, global Nissan executives, dealers, partners, media, customers, and employees.
Uchida said: “The all-new Patrol is a prime example of the exciting and empowering models we are delivering under our global business plan, The Arc. The seventh generation [Patrol] is a bold leap forward, blending unparalleled performance, cutting-edge technology, and a commanding presence to redefine what an SUV can be.”
2 million units sold
Uchida said more than two million Patrols (up to the Y62 series) have been sold globally, adding that the Patrol-branded model is sold in 28 countries worldwide. In addition, the Patrol is being produced in 12 countries, even as 5,000 engineers and designers have worked on developing the New Patrol.
Uchida said a Patrol engine is tested for 100,000km during development, equivalent to driving around the Earth’s equator almost three times. Nissan sold the first Patrol model in 1951, 73 years ago.
The new Patrol only comes in a V6 version, no longer a gas-guzzling V8. Nissan has yet to make public its plans to launch a Nismo version of the new Patrol.
The formal reveal of the new Patrol, hosted under the theme of ‘Nissan Patrol Middle East Odyssey’, was preceded by a unique Patrol Heritage Zone that featured every single Patrol model, from the very first model dating from 1951 to the 2024 iteration.
Heritage meets innovation
The new Patrol pays homage to its illustrious legacy with a bold new design. It features a powerful V6 twin-turbo engine, which promises exceptional all-terrain capability alongside a 9-speed automatic transmission and adaptive air suspension.
The latest model boasts intuitive technologies, including NissanConnect 2.0 powered by Google built-in, ProPILOT Assist, and a Klipsch Premium Audio System, ensuring a superior driving experience with unique comfort.
Design and performance
The new Patrol’s design combines a robust appearance with a premium aesthetic. The enhanced V-motion grille, flanked by double C-shaped headlights featuring Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) technology and the full-width rear light bar, contribute to its formidable road presence.
The SUV’s stance is emphasised by optional 22-inch alloy wheels, providing a high ground clearance and striking visual impact.
Under the hood, the new 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo engine delivers 425 horsepower and 700Nm of torque. This represents a significant upgrade from its previous V8 engine, offering a 7% increase in power, a 25% boost in torque, and a 24% improvement in fuel efficiency.
Additionally, a variant of the Patrol is available with a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine, which produces 316 horsepower and 386Nm of torque.
The advanced 9-speed automatic transmission, combined with a dynamic suspension and adaptive air suspension system, ensures a refined and controlled driving experience.
Interior excellence
Inside, the new Patrol’s cabin epitomises luxury and innovation. It features quilted leather seats inspired by traditional Japanese woodcraft, with options for massage functionality and eight-way adjustment.
The expansive interior is highlighted by a standard panoramic sunroof and an advanced infotainment system anchored by a 28.6-inch horizontal Monolith display with twin 14.3-inch displays. Optional dual 12.8-inch screens cater to rear-seat passengers, enhancing their travel experience.
The 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio system offers an immersive sound experience, while Biometric Cooling technology adjusts airflow based on occupant body temperature. The Patrol also includes practical features like increased cargo space and a newly engineered frame for a quieter ride.
Advanced safety and connectivity
The new Patrol introduces NissanConnect 2.0 with Google Built-In, integrating navigation, security, and entertainment. It also debuts ProPILOT technology in the region, featuring adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. Panorama views enhance visibility, including ultra-wide and invisible hood views and a 3D around-view monitor.
Safety features include a comprehensive package with seven knee airbags for driver protection. Intelligent emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and additional driver assistance technologies further bolster safety.
The new Nissan Patrol will be available at Nissan dealers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the wider Middle East region starting November 1, 2024. The entry price in the UAE market will be AED240,000+.
