Cathay Pacific to resume Hong Kong-Hyderabad flights in 2025

With effect from March 30, 2025

Cathay Pacific will resume its non-stop passenger service from Hong Kong to Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana, India, beginning on March 30, 2025. This development marks a significant step in the airline’s commitment to enhancing its presence in India, a key market for its operations. Bookings for the new Hong Kong-Hyderabad flights are now open, reflecting the airline’s strategic efforts to strengthen connectivity from its hub in Hong Kong.

Initially, the Hong Kong-Hyderabad service will operate three times a week using the airline’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, featuring both Business and Economy class options. From September 1, 2025, the frequency will increase to five flights per week, providing more flexibility and convenience for travellers.

Cathay Pacific operates 31 return flights weekly to four major Indian cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai. This number will rise to 39 weekly return flights by March 30, 2025, and further expand to 43 return flights by September 1, 2025.

The enhanced schedule includes double-daily flights to Delhi, ten flights per week to Mumbai, and daily services to Bengaluru and Chennai, significantly increasing regional connectivity.

The new Hyderabad service will facilitate travel between these cities and enhance Indian travellers’ access to Hong Kong and beyond. Cathay Pacific’s extensive global network allows connections to the Chinese mainland and other international destinations from its Hong Kong hub.

Enhanced connectivity

In addition to direct flights, Cathay Pacific is improving connectivity to various cities within the vibrant Greater Bay Area through ferry and coach transfer services. These intermodal codeshare services are available from the SkyPier Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport, offering a smooth travel experience right from the moment customers book their tickets.

With checked baggage services ensuring hassle-free transfers, passengers can enjoy a seamless journey without the need to clear immigration upon arrival in Hong Kong.

The service has already proven popular among Indian travellers, particularly during recent events like the Canton Fair, due to its proximity to key locations like the Guangzhou Pazhou Ferry Terminal. Cathay Pacific anticipates building on this success with the new direct flights from Hong Kong to Hyderabad.

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, passengers can connect to seven destinations within the Greater Bay Area via high-speed ferry and to two additional locations via coach transfers. Notable ferry destinations include Dongguan, Guangzhou, Macao, and various ports in Shenzhen, while coach services will connect to Macao and Zhuhai via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. This integrated transport system is designed to offer convenience and accessibility to passengers travelling to and from the region.

As for the flight schedule, the Hong Kong-Hyderabad service is set to run as follows: from March 30, 2025, to May 15, 2025, flights will operate on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The outbound flight from Hong Kong (CX673) will depart at 21:35, arriving in Hyderabad at 00:45 the following day. The return flight (CX672) will leave Hyderabad at 01:50, landing back in Hong Kong at 09:30 on the same day. The schedule will adjust slightly for the summer months, maintaining its three-times-weekly frequency before expanding later in the year.

In addition to its passenger operations, Cathay Cargo is vital in maintaining its connections with India. It operates 13 return freighter flights per week, further solidifying the airline’s commitment to serving this dynamic market.

Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said: “We are delighted to resume our direct flights between Hong Kong and Hyderabad. These flights will give customers access to one of India’s most vibrant cities, known for its rich heritage and booming technology sector.”

Lau further emphasised the importance of this route in fostering cultural connections and facilitating trade between Hong Kong and India, underscoring Cathay Pacific’s ongoing commitment to developing Hong Kong as a leading international aviation hub.
