Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list of most followed celebrity fitness regimes in UAE

Followed by Hugh Jackman

A new study has revealed the celebrity fitness regimes that UAE residents are most eager to follow, with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo leading the pack as the most sought-after fitness inspiration. The research by The Fitness Group used Google Keyword Planner to analyse search volumes related to celebrity diets and workout routines in the UAE.

Ronaldo’s fitness regimen garnered the highest number of searches, with 18.59 queries per 100,000 residents, solidifying his status as the UAE’s fitness icon. The study’s findings reflect the growing fascination with celebrity-driven fitness culture as residents search for inspiration to achieve the physiques of their favourite stars.

Hugh Jackman, famed for his transformative physique in the Wolverine franchise, claimed second place with 16.78 searches per 100,000 residents. Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli shared the third spot, each recording 16.32 searches per 100,000 people. These results show that fitness enthusiasts in the UAE are looking up to international athletes and local and regional icons.

Interestingly, the study also highlighted that age is no barrier to achieving and maintaining a fit physique. Seven out of the top 10 most-searched fitness icons are over 50. This includes legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, aged 77, and Mike Tyson, aged 57, whose fitness journeys inspire many.

The research was based on 3,697 unique search keywords related to celebrity diets and workouts, such as “[Celebrity] workout routine” and “[Celebrity] fitness workouts.” This data was collected using the Google Keyword Planner tool, which provided a detailed view of the celebrities whose fitness regimes residents in the UAE are most interested in.

A separate survey by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development showed that 37.3% of UAE residents meet the World Health Organization’s recommended physical activity levels, engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise each week. This demonstrates that the country’s interest in fitness is high, with many looking to celebrities for guidance on achieving their fitness goals.

Steven Dick, Co-Founder and Director of The Fitness Group, commented on the findings: “It’s no surprise that celebrities serve as fitness role models, inspiring people to seek out their workout routines and diets. However, it’s important to remember that achieving peak fitness takes time, effort, and consistency.

“What’s truly important is developing a fitness regime that you can consistently maintain. The hardest part is starting and committing to it; if you’ve done that, you’re already halfway there. Everyone’s fitness journey is unique. Focus on creating sustainable habits that work for you rather than trying to replicate a celebrity’s exact routine. Doing so makes you more likely to achieve lasting results and improved overall health.”
