Dubai Mall attracted a record 105 million visitors in 2023
20 million visited in the first two months of 2024
The Dubai Mall celebrated a milestone by hosting an unprecedented 105 million visitors in 2023, marking an impressive surge of more than 19% from the previous year’s 88 million. Sales performance in 2023 also demonstrated robust figures.
Statistics released by Emaar Malls Management on March 5, 2024, reveal that the retail mall witnessed an influx of 20 million visitors during January and February, foreshadowing another year of record-breaking achievements in 2024.
World’s second-largest shopping centre
Established in 2008, Dubai Mall is the world’s second-largest shopping centre, trailing New South China Mall in Dongguan, China.
Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar said: “These statistics underscore the position of Dubai Mall, echoing Dubai’s leadership and resilient economy. Our mall epitomises the dynamic spirit of the city and a commitment to excellence.
“As an integral part of Dubai’s economic landscape, we play a pivotal role in the city’s prosperity and innovation. The diverse array of nationalities emphasises the mall’s global allure and reflects the cosmopolitan culture of Dubai itself,” added Alabbar.
The mall’s events and promotions in 2023 and the early months of 2024, including significant festive occasions and international celebrations, were instrumental in driving foot traffic.
Flagship events in the Dubai emirate, such as the Dubai Shopping Festival, the Dubai Food Festival, and the 3-Day Super Sale, showcase the mall’s ability to attract and engage massive crowds.
Positive feedback
The mall’s commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in consistently high customer satisfaction scores, which average 4.6 and reflect positive feedback from thousands of customers.
In 2023, Dubai Mall redefined luxury retail through its Retail Relation programme, collaborating with top-tier brands to craft immersive shopping experiences. Visitors were captivated by the enchanting festive displays by Cartier, Carolina Herrera, and Dior.
The 2023 Ramadan installation featured exclusive collections from brands like Fendi and Chloe. High-profile events such as Watches and Wonders and the debut of Louis Vuitton’s Pharrell Williams collection further solidified the mall’s status as a luxury shopping haven.
A majority of the visitors to the mall every year tend to comprise global, regional and local tourists, who visit for photo opportunities, not to shop per se.
