15th anniversary celebration of Dubai Metro begins
Themed ‘15 Years on Track’
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro network this September with a ‘15 Years on Track’ campaign comprising promotional and entertainment events.
The Dubai Metro network began commercial operations on September 9, 2009.
Keolis-MHI, the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram operator has joined the campaign as a strategic partner. At the same time, LEGO Middle East, LEGOLAND Dubai, IGLOO, Al Jaber Gallery, and Emirates Post are serving as campaign partners.
Notable highlights of the 15th anniversary Dubai Metro celebration include:
- Limited edition post stamps: Emirates Post has issued commemorative stamps dedicated to the Dubai Metro’s 15th anniversary.
- Special edition Nol card: Dubai’s RTA has unveiled a special edition Nol card featuring the campaign’s logo, designed in collaboration with LEGO Middle East.
- Souvenirs at Al Jaber Gallery: Al Jaber Gallery showcases various Dubai Metro-themed souvenirs.
- LEGOLAND Dubai celebration: On September 21, 2024, LEGOLAND Dubai hosts a special event for ‘Metro Babies’—children born on September 9, 2029, up to the same date in 2023.
- IGLOO ice cream promotion: IGLOO will offer limited edition ice creams shaped like the Dubai Metro. Five thousand ice creams will contain special codes, and winners will receive Nol Terhaal discount cards.
- Dubai Metro music festival: From September 21-27, 2024, commuters at Dubai Metro stations will enjoy live musical performances by Emirati and international artists. This event is part of the 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival, organised by Brand Dubai.
Dubai’s RTA owns and operates the Dubai Metro network, inaugurated in 2009. The network spans over 90km and includes two main lines—the Red and Green Lines—connecting key districts, commercial centres, and residential areas across Dubai City.
Renowned for its efficiency and modern design, the metro system features driverless trains, sleek stations, and a commitment to sustainability. With its extensive coverage and state-of-the-art facilities, the Dubai Metro significantly enhances urban mobility, reduces traffic congestion, and supports Dubai emirate’s rapid growth.
