How to bid for premium number plates in Dubai auction on September 2, 2023

Dubai government’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) is placing 90 premium vehicle number plates up for public auction on September 2, 2023.

This will be Dubai RTA’s second vehicle number plates’ public auction of 2023 and its 113th overall to date.

The premium number plates include digits 2, 3, 4 and 5, together with the so-called super number plates of AA70, Y96, Z43, S888, W22222, X7777, X300, and W10000.

Number plates on offer at the upcoming auction include AA-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P-Q-R-S-T-U-V-W-X-Y-Z codes.

Bidders’ registration will start on August 28, 2023, while the bidding process will begin at 4:30pm (Gulf Standard Time) on September 2, 2023, at InterContinental Dubai Festival City hotel in Dubai City.

Bidders may register for the auction via the Dubai website, Dubai Drive app, or the Dubai RTA service centres located at Umm Al Ramool, Deira, or Al Barsha in Dubai City.

Pre-registration reminder

With limited seating available, bidders are urged to pre-register for the auction.

Bidders’ registration will also be available at the auction hall in InterContinental Dubai Festival City hotel from 2pm (Gulf Standard Time) onwards on September 2.

The auction sale of the number plates will be subject to 5% VAT (UAE).

To be eligible for the bidding process bidders must possess a valid traffic file in Dubai emirate, and will have to submit an AED25,000 security cheque made out to Dubai RTA.

Bidders must also pay a non-refundable auction fee of AED120. This payment can be made at the Dubai RTA service centres in Umm Al Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha, on the Dubai RTA website or via the Dubai Drive app.

Set up in November 2005, Dubai RTA plans, develops, and operates all mass transit systems in Dubai emirate, including buses, taxis, metro, tram, and marine modes, as well as public parking facilities.

The Authority also enacts and implements legislation and strategic plans while developing and maintaining public roads, road traffic, rail, and marine projects across Dubai emirate.
