Fish Market launches new tasting menu with Chef Ivan Vidal inspired by the flavours of the Mexican pacific coast

The six-course seafood tasting menu and wine pairing was inspired by the Mexican chef’s upbringing and will bring a new dining experience to one of the city’s most loved seafood restaurants. Fish Market is the sister concept of recently awarded Bib Gourmand Persian restaurant Shabestan.

Opening in 1989, Fish Market has become a firm favourite for the foodies of Dubai, some-what of a hidden gem, the restaurant is located in Deira, and overlooks Dubai’s old quarter, heritage village and the charming creek. Based on a market concept, guests dining from the a la carte menu can choose from fresh and ethically sourced produce, adding their choice of vegetables to their basket and selecting flavours, sauces and sides recommended by the team to create their final dish. The recently installed hydroponic farm in the restaurants also adds to the farm to table concept.

The new limited edition tasting menu has been designed to bring the unique flavours of the fishing towns of the Mexican pacific coast to Dubai, while still maintaining the restaurants commitment to fresh seafood. Inspired by the “Marrisqueria” all across his home country, Chef Ivan has created a menu of traditional Mexican seafood. The six courses include a shot de Caldo de Cameron upon arrival, followed by a tuna ceviche tostada. Next up is a crab and avocado chimichanga followed by a traditional crispy shrimp taco. The main dish is a seabass fillet, cooked in a chilli marinade and served with garlic rice and Mexican coast salad, before the final dish, which is a serving of a traditional tres leches desert. All dishes are from different parts of Mexico but share the pacific coast in common. For those who are fans of grape, a wine pairing menu will also be available.

Chef Ivan Vidal was born in Mexico City, starting his career in the hospitality industry in Acapulco at the age of 17. He studied culinary arts in Mexico City and Switzerland before beginning his professional kitchen career. He inherited his love of cooking from his grandmothers, who he said were both great cooks, and was influenced by his father and grandfather who took him to new restaurants every weekend, starting his passion for exploring new cuisines and flavours. Chef Ivan is currently the Executive Sous Chef at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek.

The Pacifico Mexicano tasting menu launches on 25th October and will be available daily from 12.30pm to11pm. The six-course menu is priced at 245AED with a supplement of 150aed to include wine pairing.

Bookings are recommended and can be made online, by email or telephone.
