FIVE FANTASTIC REASONS TO ATTEND THIS WEEK’S TEAM CUP COMPETITION AT ABU DHABI GOLF RESORT
Golf fans can experience the excitement of the 2025 Team Cup in style when Continental Europe face off against Great Britain & Ireland at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort later this week, courtesy of an action-packed entertainment schedule across the entire weekend of thrilling match-play action.
General Admission tickets are free of charge throughout a highly anticipated tournament which is the perfect way to kick off both the New Year and 2025 DP World Tour Schedule.
Below are five reasons why the 2025 Team Cup is a must-attend event:
WORLD CLASS GOLF ACTION
The Team Cup is shaping up to be an exciting spectacle, featuring two teams with a wealth of Ryder Cup experience and youthful exuberance. Francesco Molinari, who has represented Team Europe three times, leads the Continental Europe group, where he is joined by Nicolai Højgaard and Thorbjørn Olesen, who each boast one appearance. On the other side, Justin Rose, with six Ryder Cup appearances to his name, teams up with Dubai-based Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton.
The competition will follow the same format as in 2023, with teams battling it out in match play. The schedule includes one fourball session on Friday, two foursomes sessions on Saturday, and a singles session on Sunday, with all players competing in every session. Each match is worth a single point, and the first team to accumulate 12½ points will claim the Team Cup trophy. Exciting young talents on both sides such as Rasmus Højgaard, Niklas Norgaard and Tom McKibbin will look to impress Team Europe Captain Luke Donald, ahead of the most anticipated Ryder Cup match in recent history, scheduled for September in New York.
FREE GENERAL ADMISSSION AND THE ‘TEAM SOCIAL’ PACKAGE
For the entire weekend, General Admission tickets are free for all. At this year’s Team Cup, there is a brand-new paid ticket option, The ‘Team Social’ package (AED 225), which provides three hours of free-flowing refreshments, including grapes, hops, grains and soft drinks. The package runs from 2-5pm every day of the event with the drinks available from the Team Cup Spectator Village bar and stalls on the 15th and 17th greens.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND FAN VILLAGE ACTIVITIES
The entertainment kicks off on Friday (January 10) with the hugely popular Irish singer Rory McGettigan. On Saturday (January 11), Shades of Jade will take the stage, delivering a dynamic blend of jazz, pop, funk, and party classics. The final day (January 12) will feature singer-guitarist The Dazzler, who will close out the event with his signature singalongs, following the crowning of the champion on the 18th green.
Across all three days of the event, there will be a special Ryder Cup Trophy activation in the Village, where fans can take photos with one of the most famous trophies in sport. Trickshot shows, a kids’ zone, and ‘Get into Golf’ sessions will also be available each day.
FIRST TEE EXPERIENCE
On all three days of competition, fans can get a small taste of the infamous Ryder Cup First Tee atmosphere. With a dedicated platform surrounding the first tee, free gifts for the first 100 visitors each day and the perfect view of the best players in the world in action, the first tee will be a popular spot for fans to soak up the unique atmosphere at the start of each session.
RYDER CUP PREPARATIONS
The 2025 Team Cup provides Team Europe with an ideal opportunity to sharpen their match play skills ahead of the eagerly awaited Ryder Cup, which will take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, from September 23-28, 2025.
In 2023, the event, known at the time as the Hero Cup, played a pivotal role in Team Europe’s preparations for the Ryder Cup, which they went on to win in Rome, and captain Luke Donald will undoubtedly be hoping for more of the same this time around.
