Dr Naresh Kumar Macherla, Chairman of ISR Leadership, has issued a heartfelt call to action, emphasising the global organisation’s dedication to creating a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Addressing a news conference in Dubai, UAE, on August 22, 2024, to announce the inaugural ISR Leadership Global Summit & Awards 2024 event in London, UK, Macherla underscored ISR Leadership’s commitment to addressing pressing global issues through collective action and collaboration.

“ISR Leadership is a global organisation dedicated to promoting the concept of Individual Social Responsibility (ISR). Macherla highlighted the London, UK-headquartered organisation’s comprehensive approach to tackling significant challenges such as environmental sustainability, social equity, community engagement, and mental health awareness.

According to Macherla, ISR Leadership’s mission is to protect the principles of ISR by empowering individuals to contribute to social and environmental causes and creating a ripple effect of positive change.

Macherla said ISR Leadership, known for its unifying efforts among NGOs, ISR leaders, volunteers, and CSR teams, is making strides in several critical areas.

Key initiatives include:

  • Environmental sustainability: ISR Leadership is actively partnering with climate action initiatives to enhance waste management practices and support conservation efforts to preserve natural habitats.
  • Social equity and inclusion: The organisation advocates for equal opportunities and supports public health initiatives, working towards economic empowerment for marginalised communities.
  • Community engagement and development: Volunteer programmes and local partnerships have been instrumental in strengthening community bonds and promoting active citizenship.
  • Mental health awareness: Collaborations with top professionals are being leveraged to raise awareness and provide support through campaigns and workshops.

Looking to the future, ISR Leadership aims to expand its impact by developing innovative digital platforms to connect global ISR influencers, enhancing educational outreach, and launching new projects to address emerging social and environmental challenges, said Macherla.

The key objectives of the inaugural ISR Leadership Global Summit & Awards 2024 are to promote sustainability leadership by encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices in business, government and society; provide a platform for sharing best practices, success stories, and innovation solutions in sustainability; facilitate connections among sustainability professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders; acknowledge and reward outstanding achievements in sustainability through awards; and address critical global social and environmental challenges, gaps, and grey areas.

Q&A with Dr Naresh Kumar Macherla, Founder & Chairman of ISR Leadership

menews247: What are the criteria for joining ISR Leadership?

Macherla: The primary criterion for joining ISR Leadership is excellent intent. We seek individuals with strong leadership qualities, experience in their respective fields, and a genuine desire to contribute to social responsibility. These individuals should already embody the ISR qualities we value. When we identify leaders with these attributes, we welcome them to join our organisation.

menews247: How old is ISR Leadership as an organisation?

Macherla: The concept of ISR Leadership is about 20 years old. It began as an idea about corporate social leadership and evolved. We have rigorously developed this idea over the last two years and will officially launch it on October 4, 2024, in London, United Kingdom. Extensive research and case studies conducted globally have led us to this point.

menews247: What measures do you use to gauge the success of ISR Leadership?

Macherla: Success is measured by the impact we make through our initiatives. Although my background is in banking and finance, my passion for giving back to society has always been a driving force. The recent global challenges have only intensified our commitment to social responsibility. We aim to see meaningful outcomes from our projects and events.

menews247: How is ISR Leadership funded?

Macherla: ISR Leadership is a non-profit organisation funded through donations, sponsorships, and event revenues. We are in the process of establishing a charitable trust for better management. I have personally supported the organisation financially over the past couple of years.

menews247: How does ISR Leadership align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

Macherla: We focus on addressing common societal and environmental issues rather than sticking to one specific agenda. Our goal is to tackle crucial global problems such as food and shelter. We select areas with significant international impact and work on those with a dedicated team of experts.

menews247: Why hold this press conference in Dubai, and why London for the October 4, 2024, event?

Macherla: Dubai is strategically connected globally and accessible, making it an ideal location for our press conference. London, on the other hand, is a familiar venue for me, given my long-standing connections in Europe. We plan to hold events in both cities, with a quarterly presence in Dubai.

menews247: Does ISP Leadership receive support from UAE government entities?

Macherla: We have not yet contacted UAE government entities for support. However, we have received positive responses and support from certain places, including Oman and Dubai. The human touch in these interactions provides valuable insights and connections crucial to our mission.
