LG unveils ‘hybrid AI’ gram laptops at CES 2025

With on-device and cloud AI services

LG Electronics has unveiled its 2025 LG gram lineup at CES 2025. These new models, including the gram Pro, gram Pro 2-in-1, gram, and gram Book, represent the company’s first laptops to incorporate on-device artificial intelligence (AI).

With an emphasis on seamless integration of both on-device and cloud AI, LG’s hybrid AI technology promises to offer an enhanced, personalised user experience that blends local and cloud-based AI services for unprecedented performance.

The introduction of LG’s innovative gram AI is poised to change how users interact with their laptops, providing a smarter, more secure, and highly customised computing experience. Through gram chat On-Device, the laptops utilise AI algorithms to process and analyse data locally without requiring a network connection.

This ensures faster, more secure processing and the ability to manage tasks and requests efficiently without the need for constant online access. In addition, users can access the expansive power of cloud-based AI via gram chat Cloud, which GPT-4o supports. During the first year, this free service offers personalised insights and access to a vast knowledge base to streamline productivity.

The hybrid AI solution at the core of these devices provides a dynamic and adaptable experience. The gram chat On-Device function is powered by a small language model derived from LG AI Research’s Exaone large language model, enabling it to offer fast and accurate responses while managing tasks such as document organisation and device management.

Web-based datasets

Meanwhile, gram chat Cloud taps into extensive web-based datasets to answer more complex queries and integrate with users’ personal calendars and email services. This integration allows users to manage schedules, send and receive emails, and receive detailed answers to various queries tailored to their needs.

One of the standout features of the 2025-gram laptops is their groundbreaking performance, which is made possible by Intel’s latest processors. The gram lineup boasts Intel Core Ultra H-Series (Arrow Lake) and Intel Core Ultra V-Series (Lunar Lake) chips designed to optimise traditional PC tasks and AI-driven computing.

The Arrow Lake processors in the gram models provide superior computing and graphics performance, enhancing everything from video editing and 3D rendering to gaming. On the other hand, the Lunar Lake-powered models feature Microsoft’s Copilot+ functionality, which includes AI-driven capabilities such as real-time video subtitle translation and AI image generation. These laptops are designed for exceptional performance, making them ideal for work and entertainment.

At the forefront of the 2025 gram series is the LG gram Pro (17Z90TR), which combines portability with high performance. This model features an Arrow Lake CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card, allowing it to handle even the most demanding applications, from creative tasks like graphic design to resource-intensive activities like running AAA games.

The gram Pro 2-in-1 model (16T90TP) has also garnered recognition for its versatility and design, earning a CES 2025 Innovation Award. This model can be used as a laptop or tablet, offering flexibility and convenience, while its wirelessly chargeable stylus pen further enhances its functionality.

Another notable addition to the lineup is the new LG gram Book (15U50T), an entry-level model designed to offer the signature features of the gram series at a more accessible price. With a 15.6-inch Full HD display, expandable storage options, and a slim, portable design, the gram Book combines excellent value with LG’s renowned lightweight design and performance.

All new gram laptops support the upgraded gram Link 2.0 feature, enabling seamless connectivity across iOS and Android smartphones. Users can easily share content and transfer files between their gram laptops and mobile devices while managing incoming phone calls directly on the laptop, reducing workflow interruptions and increasing efficiency.

With cutting-edge features, including AI-powered personalisation, next-generation processing power, and versatile form factors, the 2025 LG gram lineup sets a new standard for productivity laptops. Integrating hybrid AI, combining both on-device and cloud services, ensures users experience a more innovative, efficient, and future-ready computing environment.
