Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal A, a beacon of excellence in the global airport industry, was honoured with the prestigious title of ‘World’s Best New Airport Terminal’ at the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
The global recognition, announced during the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany, is a testament to the airport’s commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience.
The accolade, bestowed after a meticulous survey of global travellers evaluating various aspects of the airport experience, underscores Terminal A’s commitment to excellence in facilities, staff service, and overall customer satisfaction.
Terminal A, in New Jersey, United States, is operated by Munich Airport International (MAI) and its subsidiary, Munich Airport NJ (MANJ)
Widely regarded as the most comprehensive annual assessment of airport performance, the Skytrax World Airport Awards serve as a benchmark for the industry’s pursuit of excellence.
Premier Destination
This recognition follows Terminal A’s recent Skytrax 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating, affirming its position as a premier destination for travellers worldwide.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, congratulated MAI and MANJ on their remarkable accomplishment.
“Newark’s Terminal A has swiftly emerged as a success story, thanks to the dedication of our subsidiaries,” said Lammers, emphasising the terminal’s rapid ascent to acclaim within just one year of operation.
Dr Lutz Weisser, Managing Director of Munich Airport International, attributed Terminal A’s success to the team, partners, and stakeholders’ collective efforts.
He highlighted their role in delivering an exceptional travel experience and expressed pride in their ability to exceed passenger expectations.
Michael Kunz, CEO of Munich Airport NJ, hailed the award as a testament to Terminal A’s unwavering commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
“Being named the Best New Terminal in the World is a tremendous achievement,” stated Kunz, emphasising the dedication and meticulous planning that culminated in this milestone.
Opened in January 2023 for $2.7 billion, Terminal A at EWR is a one-of-a-kind airport experience.
15 Million Passengers
Spanning one million square feet, it caters to 15 million passengers annually. With its spacious interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and locally inspired amenities, the terminal offers a unique and immersive travel experience that will captivate every passenger.
A notable highlight of Terminal A is its extensive collection of public art installations, which showcase the talents of 29 local New Jersey artists and celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Additionally, the terminal has garnered recognition for its sustainability efforts, earning LEED Gold Certification and numerous other accolades.
With its latest honour from the Skytrax World Airport Awards, Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport reaffirms its status as a world-class hub for air travel, embodying excellence in every aspect of the passenger journey.
