With Sharjah, Dubai’s neighbouring emirate, banning all New Year’s Eve fireworks and celebrations due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Dubai City saw more than its fair share of New Year’s Eve revellers, who helped swell the public transport passengers’ numbers on New Year’s Eve in Dubai. One of the biggest emirates in the UAE in terms of land mass, Sharjah’s Al Majaz Waterfront has traditionally been the most popular venue in the emirate to host a spectacular fireworks display on New Year’s Eve every year.

Set up in November 2005, Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority plans, develops, and operates all mass transit systems in Dubai emirate, including public buses, taxis, metro, tram, and marine modes and public parking facilities. The institution also enacts and implements legislation and strategic plans while developing and maintaining public roads, road traffic, rail, and marine projects across Dubai emirate.
