Emirates achieves a year of Premium Economy service for passengers
Emirates airline has completed the first year of full-service operation involving its Premium Economy cabin configuration, with 160,000+ passengers availing of the service since its introduction in August 2022.
The Dubai-based carrier currently operates 20 aircraft fitted with the Premium Economy configuration, including A380 flights to London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Houston, San Francisco and Dubai.
According to Emirates nearly half of the passengers favouring the class configuration are solo travellers, while couples and families constitute the other half.
The carrier’s Premium Economy seating is currently only available on flights to 11 cities, with the list set to grow to 13 cities by the end of the year, as more retrofitted Emirates aircraft with refurbished cabin classes are deployed.
Since August 2022, the carrier has operated close to 4,466 flights globally featuring its Premium Economy service, which will be available on Emirates’ flights to and from Mumbai and Bengaluru from October 29, 2023.
In May 2023, Emirates launched a global marketing campaign with Academy Award-winning actress Penelope Cruz, which featured her promoting the Premium Economy service.
Emirates has embarked on a multi-billion-dollar passenger aircraft interior configuration retrofit programme involving 67 of the airline’s A380 and 53 Boeing 777s.
This programme involves the installation of 4,000+ Premium Economy seats, along with 700 refurbished First Class suites and 5,000 Business Class seats.
