Dubai Airshow will feature Riyadh Air’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for the first time
Riyadh Air, the newly launched Riyadh-based national airline, will exhibit its flagship Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger aircraft at the Dubai Airshow taking place at Dubai World Central (DWC) airport from November 13-17, 2023.
Making the announcement on August 9, 2023, Tarsus Aerospace, organiser of the Dubai Airshow 2023 also confirmed that Perceetech Group, a US- and UK-headquartered maker of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will showcase the world premiere of its Skyrino H1-600 heavy-lift drone at the Dubai Airshow.
Riyadh Air’s wide-body 787-9 Dreamliner, which made its first public debut on June 12, 2023, at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, features an exceptional livery befitting the carrier’s digital-first ethos and is likely to be a showstopper in the static and flying displays at the upcoming Dubai Airshow.
Global ambition
Backed by Saudi Arabia’s cash-rich Public Investment Fund, and only launched in March 2023, Riyadh Air aims to connect the Saudi capital to more than 100 destinations around the world by playing to Riyadh’s convenient geographical location to well over 50% of the world’s population, and within eight hours’ flying time.
However, the new carrier will have to compete tooth and nail with other mega carriers already well-established in the Arabian Gulf region, including Emirates airline and Etihad Airways, as well as Qatar Airways.
On March 14, 2023, Riyadh Air publicly announced an order for 72 new 787-9 Dreamliners in a deal worth billions of dollars to Seattle-based Boeing which has been losing global market share to fierce European rival, Airbus.
Riyadh Air also plans to acquire 33 additional 787-9 Dreamliners.
Proprietary UAV technology
Perceetech Group expects that its presence at the 2023 Dubai Airshow will pique the aviation and UAV industry’s interest in its proprietary Skyrino H1-600, a highly adaptable and robust heavy-lift drone with a maximum takeoff weight of up to 600kg, and able to handle a payload of up to 200kg.
The Skyrino H1-600 is ideal for a wide range of tasks. With a flight time of up to four hours and a ceiling of 4,500m altitude, the UAV is built for endurance and performance.
It can reach a cruise speed of up to 150km/h, ensuring swift deployment and operation.
According to Perceetech Group the Skyrino H1-600 is designed to be repairable and resilient, capable of operating in virtually any flyable weather conditions and ensuring steadfast reliability.
A key attribute of the Skyrino H1-600 is its high universality. It can be easily converted from a camera holder to logistic or agriculture versions, and vice versa, offering flexibility for different mission requirements.
