Shofha, a video-on-demand mobile application and website of ArpuPlus, has witnessed a significant growth in the number of audiences in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The company aims at further boosting the growth by providing affordable family-friendly viewing experiences through its extensive content library.
Shofha has recorded consistent growth year over year, and statistics indicate that this growth will persist in the years to come augmented by their soon-to-be launched smart TV application. By the end of this year, it is anticipated that the number of users from KSA and UAE will further rise. The video-on-demand mobile application has also managed to stand out as a successful business and a popular product that is used by a vast customer base throughout the MENA region. Moreover, to adapt with the changing viewing habits and user preferences, Shofha smart TV application will soon go live attracting more viewers and thus magnifying Shofha’s growth in not only KSA and UAE but also the whole MENA region.
It is worth noting that revenues from the ‘Subscription Video on Demand’ (SVOD) sector has witnessed a significant increase, reaching USD 453 million in the GCC alone. Improvements in connectivity and the introduction of new platforms are further expected to drive this to reach USD 667 million by 2026. In the Arab region as a whole, subscribers from Egypt make up a substantial percentage of users due to their large population, high proportion of young audience, and significant investments in the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
