Only Watch 2023 charity auction to see bids for the exceptional Streamliner Pandamonium timepiece

One-off watch is a mix of MB&F and H. Moser & Cie. worlds

Two world-renowned high-end Swiss watch brands – H. Moser & Cie. and MB&F – have partnered to ideate and produce the exceptional Streamliner Pandamonium one-off timepiece featuring a marvellous minute repeater complication set with a DJ panda.

Dedicated to music, the Streamliner Pandamonium will go on global sale at the Only Watch 2023 charity auction at 2pm (CET) on November 5, 2023, at the Palexpo convention centre in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Only Watch project works under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco to raise funds for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) by auctioning one-off high-end timepieces.

The Streamliner Pandamonium is a mix of both MB&F and H. Moser & Cie. worlds, with signature elements from both brands.

With its rare poetic sophistication, the watch is the height of technical excellence.

3D movement

At the heart of H. Moser Streamliner’s case is a three-dimensional movement that MB&F developed explicitly and exclusively for Only Watch. This calibre will not be used in any other watch models made by MB&F.

Acoustically captivating and visually enticing, the minute repeater mechanism can be seen on the fumé dial in a brand-new colourway stripped of logos and indices in H. Moser’s typical minimalist style.

The dial illustrates H. Moser & Cie’s minimalist philosophy and showcases the prominent, suspended balance wheel characteristic of MB&F.

The H. Moser & Cie. minute repeater complication was significantly modified to host MB&F’s distinctive flying balance wheel, floating under a sapphire crystal dome.

Acoustic poetry

Acoustically captivating and visually enticing, the minute repeater captures the very essence of the complication. The complex chime mechanism graces the dial, so one can hear the passage of time while admiring the choreography of the hammers and gongs.

The sliding bolt activates the minute repeater and is built into the main plate to save space.

The case middle is hollowed out to hold the movement and create a sound box. This amplifies the chiming of hours, quarter hours and minutes.

The chiming mechanism of the exclusive timepiece is dominated by a miniature DJ panda, a much-loved creature that is a mascot of MB&F creations for the Only Watch project.

Maximilian Büsser of MB&F and Edouard Meylan of H. Moser & Cie. have partnered with their respective brands for a second time for the Only Watch charity auction by co-creating the Streamliner Pandamonium.

Only Watch origins

Only Watch was founded in Monaco in 2005 by Luc Pettavino only to raise funds for research on DMD, a fatal genetic disease that affects one in 3,500 boys – amongst which Luc’s and Monique’s son Paul, whose diagnosis was the genesis of the Only Watch project.

With the support of the high-end Swiss watch industry – involving big groups and small independents – the Only Watch initiative has become an eagerly awaited biennial rendezvous in the Haute Horlogerie calendar for both watch brands and collectors.

The project has since allowed the charity organisation behind Only Watch, the Monaco-based Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, to raise close to AED400 million ($109 million) to fund significant scientific research into debilitating DMD.

Christie’s will conduct the Only Watch 2023 auction on November 5, 2023.

Dubai rendezvous

Between September and November 2023, all 62 watches of various brands due to be auctioned at the Only Watch auction – including the Streamliner Pandamonium – will be presented to the public, media, and horological enthusiasts during a promotional tour across eight cities worldwide: Los Angeles, New York, Monaco, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai (October 27, at Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, Museum of the Future), and Geneva in Switzerland.
