What is the 6th test flight of Halo Space in Saudi Arabia?

Prototype capsule will soar 30km

Halo Space, a leading name in near space tourism, is set to conduct its sixth test flight in Saudi Arabia this September. The test flight will feature Halo Space’s prototype pressurised capsule, Aurora, ascending 30km above the Earth. The mission aims to validate critical systems developed over three years.

The upcoming initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s growing role in near-space exploration, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) and Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation collaborate to ensure regulatory compliance and safety in the upcoming test flight.

Alberto Castrillo, Halo Space’s Chief Technology Officer, said” “The dates and location were set to ensure the reliable operation of our equipment and safe conditions for the teams on the ground operating the flight. “

From Spain

Founded in 2021 in Madrid, Spain, Halo Space is a leading global near space tourism company that has set out to offer zero-emission commercial flights reaching 25-40km altitudes.

Passengers will travel in the company’s Aurora pressurised capsule for a four-six-hour journey to enjoy a stunning view of Earth’s curvature. The company’s state-of-the-art aerospace balloon features a pressurised capsule designed to accommodate eight passengers and a pilot while providing breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Earth through its large windows.

Halo Space plans to launch regular passenger flights in 2025 and commercial operations serving 30,000 passengers by 2026.

On December 7, 2022, Halo Space conducted its first test flight with a full-scale prototype involving a stratospheric balloon carrying Halo’s uncrewed capsule to an altitude of 37km. The capsule safely landed in a designated area in Hyderabad, India.

Five subsequent tests with the Aurora prototype capsule have been conducted in the United States.
