UAE Bids Farewell to Record-Breaking Summer Heat as Cooler Weather Arrives

Relief is finally in sight for UAE residents as the nation transitions out of its sweltering summer season. September 23 will officially mark the end of this year’s record-breaking heatwave, with forecasts pointing to a steady cooling trend across the country.

The past summer tested endurance like never before. Data from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) shows April and May 2025 were the hottest on record, followed by relentless high temperatures in June and July. On August 1, Sweihan witnessed an unprecedented 51.8°C, the highest temperature ever recorded in the UAE. Coastal cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi endured mid-40s, while inland regions suffered prolonged stretches above 50°C.

As the country moves deeper into September, temperatures are finally moderating. Daytime highs are expected to settle between 38.5°C and 40.6°C, while evenings will cool to an average of 26.8°C to 29.3°C. The autumnal equinox on September 23 marks not just a seasonal shift but also a welcome opportunity for residents to return to outdoor life.

While the respite is noticeable, the NCM has advised vigilance for sporadic dust storms and variable wind conditions that may still occur during the transition period.

For millions across the UAE, this change signals the start of more comfortable months ahead ideal for family gatherings, outdoor activities, and the much-anticipated return of the country’s vibrant event season.
