Kuwait has disbanded its Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport and referred several of its current and former officials to the State Audit Bureau’s disciplinary court over alleged financial irregularities, local daily Al Qabas reported on Wednesday.
Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Mohammed Al Mashaan, confirmed that the referrals followed recommendations from an independent investigation committee she had established.
“The ministry is committed to transparency and accountability while safeguarding public funds,” Al Mashaan said. “These steps are designed to reinforce both administrative and financial discipline across our operations.”
The disciplinary trials come just one day after the Kuwaiti Cabinet approved a draft decree-law repealing Law No. 115 of 2014, which had created the Roads and Land Transport Authority.
With the repeal, the authority at the centre of the misconduct claims has been officially dissolved. The move underscores Kuwait’s broader efforts to restore public confidence in state institutions and clamp down on mismanagement of government resources.
