Saudi Arabia is preparing for a spell of unstable weather as the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) warns of widespread thunderstorms and heavy rain across the country starting Saturday, December 6, and continuing through Thursday, December 11.
The forecast shows that almost every major region could be affected. Areas likely to experience varying levels of storm activity include Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, Medina, Tabuk, Hail, Qassim, Jazan, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.
While the severity may differ from one region to another, the NCM noted that many locations should be ready for potentially dangerous conditions.
Meteorologists say the incoming system could bring strong downdrafts that may trigger dust storms, hail in some pockets, and rough sea conditions in both the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf. The biggest concern remains flash flooding, especially in valleys and low-lying zones where heavy rainfall can accumulate quickly.
The NCM urged residents to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel during peak weather activity, and exercise caution in areas known for sudden flooding.
The public is encouraged to follow updates through the NCM’s official website, social media platforms, and the Anwaa weather app for the latest advisories and safety instructions.
