UAE expands digital trade services with new business documents on UAE PASS

Abu Dhabi: The UAE has taken another step toward a fully digital government with the rollout of five new trade licence documents through the UAE PASS digital wallet. The update, announced by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), was introduced in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority, Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza), Fujairah Municipality and the Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain.

UAE PASS, the national digital identity and signature solution, now allows both residents and citizens to store and share verified business documents directly from their mobile devices. The move cuts the need for physical copies and speeds up procedures with banks, service providers and private sector institutions.

A smoother digital experience for businesses

Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General of TDRA, said the launch strengthens the UAE’s push to simplify the business environment.

He noted that adding these commercial documents to the digital wallet supports entrepreneurs and enhances confidence in government digital services. The goal, he said, is to make essential paperwork easy to access, secure and fully aligned with the country’s broader digital-transformation vision.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Ibrahim Ahmed Al Mu’alla, Director General of Umm Al Quwain’s Department of Economic Development, described the update as a major shift in how government services are delivered. He said customers can now complete transactions faster and more securely without needing to visit service centres or submit printed documents. He encouraged businesses to adopt the UAE PASS app as part of their daily operations.

Supporting a stronger investment climate

Mohamed Munaif Al Mansouri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority, said the initiative aligns with efforts to build a more attractive and competitive business environment. Collaborating with TDRA, he added, helps streamline processes for investors by using modern digital tools and reducing procedural complexity.

From the logistics sector, DP World GCC CEO and Managing Director Abdulla Bin Damithan highlighted the importance of digital transformation in maintaining economic competitiveness. With Jafza’s participation, he said businesses can focus more on growth and less on administrative tasks, reinforcing the UAE’s reputation for ease of doing business.

Fujairah Municipality Director General Mohamed Saif Al Afkham said that integrating commercial licences into the UAE PASS ecosystem supports the national digital agenda by improving cooperation across government entities and enhancing overall service quality.

A unified digital hub for official documents

The newly added documents include trade licences issued by each partner authority, such as the Commercial Registration Certificate from the Abu Dhabi Registration Authority. These authenticated papers can be shared securely with banks and accredited organisations, accelerating verification and registration procedures.

The initiative reflects the UAE’s continued investment in digital government. By offering a unified, secure and efficient way to access official documents, the country aims to make business operations smoother for companies and residents alike
