Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new traffic diversions in Ras Al Khor to support the start of construction works for the Dubai Metro Blue Line, a major public transport project aimed at expanding the emirate’s rail network.
In an update shared on social media, the RTA confirmed that several lanes at intersection A15 and along Nad Al Hamar Street, close to the Used Car Market, have been closed with immediate effect. The temporary closures are necessary to allow construction activities to proceed safely and efficiently in the area.
To reduce congestion and maintain traffic movement, the authority said that additional parallel lanes have been opened on both sides of the existing road. These alternative lanes are designed to accommodate vehicles during the construction period and help ensure smoother traffic flow despite the diversions.
The RTA urged motorists travelling through Ras Al Khor and surrounding areas to remain cautious, follow on-site directional signage, and allow extra travel time when planning their journeys. Drivers are also encouraged to consider alternative routes where possible to avoid delays during peak hours.
The Dubai Metro Blue Line is part of the city’s long-term transport strategy, aimed at improving connectivity, reducing traffic congestion, and supporting sustainable urban growth. Once completed, the new line is expected to enhance access to key residential, commercial, and industrial areas, while providing residents and visitors with a faster and more efficient public transport option.
RTA said it will continue to monitor traffic conditions throughout the construction phase and make adjustments where required to minimise disruption. Further updates will be shared with the public as work progresses and additional traffic changes are introduced.
