The Ajman Government has announced 100 percent remote work on Fridays for all government entities during the Holy Month of Ramadan, under the directives of Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman.

The move comes as part of the “Ajman Ramadan with the Family” initiative launched by the Ajman Department of Human Resources. The initiative supports the broader goals of the UAE’s ‘Year of Family’ by encouraging stronger family bonds and promoting social cohesion during the sacred month.

New Ramadan working hours

According to an official circular issued to government entities in the emirate, working hours during Ramadan will be:

  • Monday to Thursday: 9:00am to 2:30pm
  • Friday: 9:00am to 12:00pm (fully remote)

All government employees will work remotely on Fridays, allowing them to spend more time with their families while maintaining productivity.

Focus on work-life balance

The directive reflects the leadership’s emphasis on flexibility and employee wellbeing during Ramadan, a time dedicated to worship, reflection, and community.

Officials said the initiative is designed to:

  • Enhance work-life balance
  • Support employee wellbeing
  • Strengthen family communication
  • Promote social solidarity
  • Maintain high levels of institutional performance

The Ajman Department of Human Resources noted that the policy aligns with the emirate’s commitment to modern and sustainable work systems that empower human capital while maintaining service excellence.

By introducing full remote work on Fridays, Ajman joins a growing number of UAE entities adopting flexible policies during Ramadan to ensure both operational efficiency and employee comfort.
