Saudi Arabia launches Red Sea Express cargo service linking Egypt and Jordan

Saudi Arabia has launched a new regional cargo shipping route aimed at strengthening trade and logistics links across the Red Sea, connecting the Kingdom with Egypt and Jordan through a fast-track maritime service.

The Saudi Ports Authority, Mawani, announced the launch of the “Red Sea Express” shipping service via King Fahd Industrial Port in partnership with Folk Maritime and SABIC.

The new service links Yanbu with Ain Sokhna Port and Aqaba Port, aiming to accelerate cargo movement, reduce waiting times, and improve supply chain efficiency across key Red Sea trade corridors.

According to Mawani, the route will operate with a carrying capacity of up to 1,100 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), supporting the Kingdom’s broader strategy to enhance regional trade connectivity and expand maritime logistics capabilities.

Officials said the service is expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports, attract investment, and further position the Kingdom as a major logistics and transport hub under the goals of Vision 2030.

The authority added that shorter shipping times and lower transportation costs would improve the competitiveness of Saudi exports while opening additional trade opportunities for products including agricultural goods.

Located on the Red Sea coast, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu is among the region’s largest energy and petrochemical ports, handling around 210 million tonnes annually.

Saudi Arabia has been accelerating investment in ports, shipping, and logistics infrastructure as part of efforts to transform the Kingdom into a global trade gateway connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa.
