Abu Dhabi showcases the emirate’s latest tech innovations

Abu Dhabi-based tech players representing the government and private sectors showcased unique AI-powered services and solutions at GITEX Global 2024, held from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, is intensifying its digital transformation initiatives.
During the five days of GITEX Global 2024, participants explored how Abu Dhabi is forging its future in AI, aligning with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and the UAE National Strategy for AI 2031. This commitment highlights the Abu Dhabi tech community’s dedication to fostering socio-economic development through innovative AI solutions.
At GITEX Global 2024, the Abu Dhabi government unveiled next-generation solutions, including GovGPT, an AI-driven knowledge agent designed to assist Abu Dhabi government employees in swiftly accessing crucial information and policies.
Another significant launch was TAMM 3.0, an integrated platform offering AI-enabled Abu Dhabi government services tailored to user needs. TAMM 3.0 features over 800 services and includes conversational voice capabilities, allowing interactions in both Arabic and English.
Concept vehicle
GITEX Global 2024 visitors browsing through the Abu Dhabi government-operated pavilion were particularly impressed by the unveiling of the ‘Magnum MK1,’ a 4×4 armoured patrol vehicle designed for use by the Abu Dhabi Police.
The concept vehicle, designed for patrol, surveillance, and secure transport of detainees, boasts a payload capacity of 1.5 tonnes and can reach speeds up to 150 km/h. Its advanced surveillance capabilities include 360-degree camera coverage and a specialised prisoner cell and monitoring system, marking a significant advancement in police technology.
The Abu Dhabi-based Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) also showcased its upgraded EAV24, a next-generation autonomous race car set to compete in the upcoming Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League at Yas Marina Circuit. Constructed from sustainable bio-composite materials, the innovative vehicle features a design inspired by digital algorithms, emphasising AI-driven data patterns.
VentureOne, ATRC’s commercialisation arm, is focused on transforming applied research from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) into market-ready solutions.
Reda Nidhakou, CEO of VentureOne, emphasised a commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to life: “VentureOne is dedicated to translating groundbreaking tech from research to reality and from Abu Dhabi to the world.” The company uses the GITEX Global 2024 platform and showcases AI71, a venture focused on developing enterprise AI solutions powered by open-source models, particularly highlighting TII’s Falcon project.
The Capital Health Screening Centre, supported by M42—a global tech-enabled health powerhouse based in Abu Dhabi—announced plans to conduct 2,000 AI-assisted chest X-rays for TB screening, a tenfold increase compared to traditional methods.
