AccessAbilities Expo 2024 begins in Dubai next week
Poland’s Proturmed is a key exhibitor
AccessAbilities Expo, now in its sixth edition, is poised to be the largest business-to-consumer gathering focused on empowering People of Determination in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The UAE refers to people with disabilities as ‘People of Determination.’
Scheduled next week, from October 7 to 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event will feature 250 exhibitors and rehabilitation centres from 45 countries. It aims to connect People with Disabilities in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East region with the latest assistive technologies and rehabilitation practices.
The Expo will host various workshops and conferences, including one by the International Air Transport Association on ‘Innovations in Air Travel Accessibility.’ On October 9, this workshop addresses new standards and practices for airlines to improve travel accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, the event will feature a conference on Applied Behaviour Analysis for children with autism, marking a significant first for the UAE.
Among the highlighted initiatives will be a Youth Circle organised by the Dubai Youth Council, focusing on ‘Accessible Tourism.’ This session will engage senior officials from public and private entities to discuss challenges and opportunities in making Dubai a premier travel destination for People of Determination.
Topics will include successful international practices in accessible tourism and the importance of collaboration between governmental and private sectors.
Proturmed and SIMED
Mariusz Arent, CEO of Proturmed, based in Gdansk, Poland, said his company, which is a key exhibitor at AccessAbilities Expo 2024, is bringing to the three-day show the latest technologies and solutions for People of Determination in the Middle East region, including a revolutionary bed from Poland’s SIMED.
SIMED specialises in producing and distributing medical equipment for hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centres across Europe and the rest of the world.
Proturmed and SIMED are exhibiting in the Polish Pavilion at AccessAbilities Expo 2024.
Proturmed is the exclusive representative of AccessAbilities Expo in Poland.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and a patron of the Expo, said: “The broad participation in AccessAbilities Expo 2024 represents a valuable opportunity to connect the People of Determination community with international exhibitors and specialists.”
He emphasised the UAE’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities through inclusive policies and programmes.
Ghassan Suleiman, CEO of Nadd AlShibba PR & Event Management, organiser of AAE 2024, said: “New technologies are improving the quality of life for People with Disabilities, enabling them to live more independently.”
He noted that innovations like motorised wheelchairs, eye-tracking systems, and 3D-printed prosthetics are increasingly common.
With its extensive lineup of activities and exhibitions, the AccessAbilities Expo 2024 aims to foster a more inclusive society and enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This aligns with the UAE’s aspiration to be a global leader in accessibility and support for People of Determination.
