Achim Puchert is new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks

Succeeding Karin Rådström

The Supervisory Board of Daimler Truck Holding AG has appointed Achim Puchert as the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, effective December 1, 2024. Puchert, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil and Latin America, will succeed Karin Rådström, who is transitioning to Chairwoman of Daimler Truck Holding AG.

Puchert, 45, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having led Mercedes-Benz’s operations in South America since 2022. Under his leadership, the region’s truck and bus business experienced a remarkable turnaround, with significant improvements in profitability. His record of restructuring companies and motivating teams to exceed expectations were critical factors in his appointment.

Joe Kaeser, Chairman of the Daimler Truck supervisory board, praised Puchert for his leadership qualities: “The decisive criteria for his appointment were his team spirit, leadership strength, and experience in transforming businesses. Achim has demonstrated all of these qualities in his current role, and we are confident he will continue to deliver outstanding results in his new capacity.”

Michael Brecht, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board and Chairman of the General Works Council of Daimler Truck AG, supported Puchert’s appointment. “We have known Achim for many years through his various roles, including at the Wörth plant and in Brazil. Given the challenges Mercedes-Benz Trucks faces, we look forward to working with him and ensuring that the interests of both employees and shareholders are prioritised.”

Puchert’s career at Daimler dates back to 2002 when he began working in international positions within Key Account Management. Over the years, he has held several key roles, including Director of International Operations and Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service for Daimler Truck Asia. In 2019, he was appointed Senior Vice President of Daimler Truck Overseas before assuming his current role in Latin America.

Karin Rådström, who has led Mercedes-Benz Trucks since 2021, expressed confidence in Puchert’s abilities, noting, “He is an experienced strategist and transformation expert, but more importantly, he leads by empowering his teams. Achim’s leadership has already proven invaluable in revitalising the business in Brazil, and I am excited to work alongside him in his new role.”

Puchert holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration for International Business and a Master’s in International Management. His appointment marks a significant moment for Mercedes-Benz Trucks as the company prepares for the challenges of the future, with a focus on profitability, transformation, and strategic growth in key markets such as Europe and Latin America.
