Acronis to push cyber-resilience agenda at GITEX Global 2023
Former Manchester City star Paul Dickov to make a guest appearance
Acronis – a global leader in cyber protection – has chosen ‘Make your business cyber-resilient against intelligent and sophisticated attacks’ as the central theme for its participation in GITEX Global, the most prominent tech and startup show, taking place at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in Dubai City from October 16-20, 2023.
The theme of the Schaffhausen, Switzerland-headquartered SaaS company at the five-day key global tech show in Dubai City addresses the increasingly sophisticated techniques malicious actors resort to in cyberspace.
Acronis, commemorating its 20th anniversary this year under CEO Patrick Pulvermueller, is making its fourth appearance at the world’s largest annual tech platform.
Rogue use of generative AI
According to the Acronis Mid-Year Cyberthreats Report 2023, based on data originating from more than one million global endpoints, there is a growing utilisation of generative AI systems, such as ChatGPT, by cybercriminals to craft malicious content and execute sophisticated attacks.
The biannual Acronis threat report highlights ransomware as the dominant risk to small and medium-sized businesses, in addition to the growing prominence of data stealers who leverage stolen credentials to gain unauthorised access to sensitive information.
Candid Wüest, Vice President of Research at Acronis, said: “The volume of threats in 2023 has surged relative to last year, a sign that criminals are scaling and enhancing how they compromise systems and execute attacks.
“To address the dynamic threat landscape, organisations need agile, comprehensive, unified security solutions that provide the necessary visibility to understand attacks, simplify context, and provide efficient remediation of any threat, whether malware, system vulnerability, or everything in between, Wüest added.
Curated presentations
During GITEX Global 2023 show days, James Slaby, Director of Cyber Protection and Solutions Marketing at Acronis and other Acronis cyber protection experts will deliver daily presentations on a range of trending topics, including fighting ChatGPT-enhanced threats, building cyber resilience with integrated cybersecurity and data protection, qualifying for cyber insurance with better cyber security, building an incident response plan for cyber resilience, and protecting Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data.

Paul Dickov – the legend
A highlight of Acronis’s participation at GITEX Global 2023 will be former Manchester City striker and legend Paul Dickov making a guest appearance at the Acronis stand on October 18, 2023.
Dickov, who made close to 200 appearances with Manchester City, will sign autographs and pose for photos at the show. Acronis visitors will also have a chance to win unique sports prizes signed by the Manchester City and English football star player.
Acronis has been providing cyber protection to Manchester City FC since 2018. Hence, Paul Dickov’s appearance at the Acronis stand.
With backup not being enough in today’s environment, at GITEX Global 2023, cyber protection professionals will get to learn how Acronis’s all-in-one cyber protection solution – combining backup, anti-malware, security and management tools – works via a single agent and one control panel.
