Adizero: Road To Records Event Is On April 27, 2024
World-Class Athletes Gear Up For Adidas Event
Adidas Running has unveiled its plans for the highly anticipated fourth edition of the Adizero: Road to Records event, slated to take place at the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, on April 27, 2024.
Renowned for its ability to draw top-tier athletes from around the globe, this year’s event is set to be a spectacle.
With 120 elite Adidas athletes from 26 countries, the event will introduce new race distances, marking a significant evolution. These include the 800m and 1-mile races and the classic 5km and 10km races.
The confirmed participants include illustrious names such as Agnes Ngetich of Kenya, holder of the current 10km world record, former 5km world record holder Senbere Teferi of Ethiopia, Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia, Jacob Krop of Kenya, and 1-mile world record holder Hobbs Kessler of the United States.
Redesigned Elite Racecourse
One of the most anticipated features of this year’s event is the redesigned elite racecourse. The course will run entirely on tarmac for the first time, promising even faster times for the athletes.
The course spans just over 1.3km per lap around iconic Adidas campus buildings and is a testament to the event’s exclusivity. It is expected to captivate participants and spectators alike.
Global viewers can witness the action unfold via a live stream on the Adidas Running YouTube channel.
After the elite races, the event will open its doors to the public with the Adizero: Road to Records 5km Run. This inclusive event invites participation from Adidas employees, partners, Adidas Runners, and members of the general public, fostering a sense of community and promoting the Adidas brand.
Alberto Uncini Manganelli, General Manager of Running & Credibility Sports at Adidas, expressed his excitement for the event, stating: “For athletes and running fans alike, the 4th iteration of the event is more than just a day of racing; it’s a celebration of sports, athletes, and the unyielding spirit of competition at the heart of our brand.”
A Tribute
In a touching tribute to the late Agnes Tirop of Kenya, Adidas has introduced a limited-edition Adizero: Road to Records race pack, which all athletes will don on race day.
Inspired by Tirop’s race kit from the 2021 event, where she shattered the women-only 10K world record, the race pack features leopard print designs and vibrant colourways.
A portion of the proceeds from the race pack sales will go towards Tirop’s Angels, an organisation established in her memory to raise awareness about gender-based violence against women.
As anticipation builds for the fourth edition of the Adizero: Road to Records event, the world eagerly awaits witnessing Agnes Tirop’s remarkable feats of athleticism and enduring legacy come to life on the tracks of Herzogenaurach.
