Aduna appoints Anthony Bartolo as CEO

Head of Ericsson’s new venture

Aduna, a new venture launched in September 2024 by Ericsson in partnership with major global telecom operators, has announced the appointment of Anthony Bartolo as its new CEO.

The company name, Aduna, is derived from the Latin term for “many entities uniting as one,” which reflects the venture’s mission of revolutionising the global network Application Programming Interface (API) market.

With over 30 years of experience in the tech industry, Bartolo is an expert in scaling businesses, developing commercial strategies, and leading cross-functional teams to success.

Most recently, Bartolo was the Chief Operating Officer at Vonage. He previously held executive roles at Bandwidth and Avaya. At Avaya, he led a significant transition to a Software-as-a-Service model, driving an 11-fold increase in annual recurring revenue.

Aduna’s core mission is to provide network APIs that enable developers to innovate seamlessly across multiple sectors, regardless of the underlying network infrastructure. As a collective of world-class business and technology entities, Aduna will empower global developers to create new applications faster and more efficiently by offering open, programmable network capabilities. The venture will use Camara APIs to promote innovation and collaboration across the industry.

Niklas Heuveldop, Head of Ericsson’s Global Communications Platform Business Area, expressed excitement about Bartolo’s leadership and highlighted his proven accomplishments in driving strategy and execution across various technology sectors.

Bartolo emphasised the pivotal role Aduna will play in enabling businesses and developers to deliver better customer experiences, open new revenue streams, and drive innovation worldwide.

Bartolo will officially begin his role as CEO on January 20, 2025. Pending regulatory approval, the venture’s finalisation is expected later this year.

Aduna’s initial partners include leading telecom providers such as AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and T-Mobile, positioning it to impact the global digital services landscape significantly.
