Alé and British Cycling reveal new partnership
Four-year agreement
Alé, the renowned Italian cycling apparel brand, has signed a four-year agreement with British Cycling, becoming the official on-bike clothing partner. Under the partnership, Alé will provide high-quality cycling apparel for the entire Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT), including Olympic and Paralympic disciplines and non-Olympic events.
The collaboration also extends to training and competition gear, providing jerseys for national series and championship winners.
Alé is renowned for its classic Italian artisanry and attention to detail, making it the perfect partner for delivering top-tier cycling gear. The partnership ensures that all GBCT athletes are outfitted with a comprehensive kit that includes performance-enhancing gear designed to maintain and exceed the world-class standards that have come to be expected of the team. This consists of the latest fabric, design, and aerodynamics innovations, ensuring the athletes perform at their best.
The partnership brings a modern twist to the traditional white racing jersey, featuring the iconic GBR panel with asymmetric arm designs highlighted by red, white, and blue detailing. The team’s “inspire the nation” mantra is proudly displayed on the inside collar, symbolising the cyclists’ unity and ambition. With the return of the navy training kit, a nostalgic element is also incorporated, complete with a tonal triangle-based pattern and discreet GBR branding across the chest.
Stephen Park CBE, Performance Director for GBCT, expressed his enthusiasm for the new collaboration. He emphasised how crucial it is for the team to have a partner who can match their high-performance standards.
“Alé has already demonstrated their commitment to working closely with our in-house team to innovate further in areas like fabric, design, and aerodynamics,” Park said. “We’re excited to see how this collaboration will develop as we prepare for LA 2028.”
Alessia Piccolo, CEO of APG (the company behind Alé), stated that the partnership was a significant honour. With over three decades of experience providing cycling apparel to champions, Piccolo expressed her excitement about working with the GBCT.
“This collaboration represents a unique opportunity to continue creating high-performance garments for all disciplines of British Cycling,” Piccolo remarked. “We are proud to be part of this journey and look forward to contributing to the team’s success.”
Darren Henry, Chief Commercial Officer for British Cycling, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Alé into our growing portfolio of commercial partners. Their expertise in crafting high-quality, performance-driven apparel will undoubtedly support our athletes’ pursuit of excellence. We’re excited to help grow the Alé brand in the UK market.”
The partnership marks a significant milestone for British Cycling and Alé. It signals an exciting future for British cycling athletes as they prepare for future challenges, including the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
