Audi Unveils Technological Advancements In E-Mobility
Automaker in tie-up with Porsche and CARIAD
Audi, a frontrunner in premium electric mobility, is poised to redefine the standards of electric vehicles globally with its latest innovations – the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and the groundbreaking E³ 1.2 electronic architecture.
The collaboration with Porsche in developing the PPE platform and the partnership with CARIAD for the E³ 1.2 architecture signify Audi’s commitment to advancing electric mobility. These innovations mark the onset of Audi’s most extensive product initiative to date.
At the world premiere of the Audi Q6 e-tron series in Ingolstadt, Germany, Audi’s CEO, Gernot Döllner, emphasised the PPE platform’s transformative impact.
“The PPE enables us to launch high-volume, technologically advanced models in various segments and thus further electrify our portfolio,” stated Döllner.
New Benchmarks
Designed specifically for battery electric vehicles, the PPE boasts a modular design tailored to maximise the benefits of electric propulsion. With features like an 800-volt architecture and powerful electric motors, the PPE sets new benchmarks in efficiency, range, and charging speed.
Notably, the Audi Q6 e-tron series, the first production model based on the PPE platform, embodies Audi’s commitment to innovation. Its assembly in Ingolstadt signifies a significant milestone as the site’s first fully electric model production, coupled with establishing a dedicated battery assembly facility.
Audi’s investment in workforce training underscores its dedication to sustainability.
Over 8,300 employees in Ingolstadt and numerous experts in Győr have been equipped with the necessary skills for electrification.
“For the transition to electric mobility, we are relying on our existing plants, renewing ourselves from the inside out,” said Gerd Walker, Member of the Board of Management for Production and Logistics.
Moreover, integrating the new E³ 1.2 electronic architecture promises a revolutionary interior experience.
With five high-performance computers controlling all vehicle functions, including infotainment and driving features, Audi is elevating the digitalisation of its model portfolio. The architecture, scalable across the Volkswagen Group, facilitates fast software updates and upgrades, ensuring customers stay at the forefront of technology.
The Audi Q6 e-tron series, equipped with the E³ 1.2 architecture, offers customers an immersive digital experience. From the Audi store for apps to new navigation features, the infotainment system promises unparalleled connectivity.
Combined with a new display and operating concept, the interior transforms into a digital stage, providing a futuristic driving experience.
Audi’s pioneering advancements in electric mobility, embodied by the PPE platform and the E³ 1.2 electronic architecture, signify a monumental leap towards sustainable and connected mobility solutions.
As Audi continues to push the boundaries of innovation, the future of electric mobility looks promising and exhilarating.
