Bahrain’s 5G Speed Hits Peak Performance
Bahrain’s 5G Speed Hits Peak Performance:
Bahrain’s 5G network speed has reportedly hit a peak of 3.2 Gbps. This peak speed performance shows that Bahrain’s 5G progress has doubled in recent years. When 5G connectivity was launched in the kingdom in 2019, the peak speed was pegged at 1.5 Gbps. However, Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has released a report emphasizing that the 5G quality of service offered by the kingdom’s mobile networks has significantly improved. The telecoms regulator stated that these Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have successfully extended 5G connectivity to the whole population.
This peak performance is particularly interesting because the typical download speeds for 5G networks (specifically Sub-6 GHz Networks) range from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps. This ensures that users can download HD movies in seconds and even stream multiple 4K videos. 5G connectivity also allows users to play online games without lag and use virtual reality applications with ease.
However, apart from Bahrain’s 5G progress, its 4G connectivity has also experienced immense improvement. The TRA has reported that the average download speeds for its 4G network have more than doubled since 2020, increasing from 85 Mbps in 2020 to a whopping 266 Mbps in 2022. This accounts for an increase of over 100 percent. The TRA’s report also highlighted that mobile networks have also offered very good SMS services. According to the data presented by the telecoms regulator, 100pc messages are regularly received within 1seconds. Also, the average SMS reception delay is 0.4 seconds. This is the kingdom’s best SMS performance since 2010.
According to the General Director of the Transport Regulatory Authority, the mobile audit the Authority conducted has shown that all three of the kingdom’s mobile networks have provided high-quality services and continue to improve their coverage. The General Director further stated that the mobile audit represents a comprehensive review of network performance. The increased performance is reportedly due to close collaboration between the TRA, mobile network operators, and numerous stakeholders in the kingdom’s telecommunications sector.
However, the TRA stated that to ensure the genuineness of the data presented in the report, it had to remove certain unreliable data. The TRA’s report on Quality of Service has consistently been released by the authority in a bid to keep stakeholders updated on progress in the sector.
Conclusion
Bahrain’s peak 5G speed is a strong indicator of the country’s quest to position itself as the hub for digital transformation. With the rate of 5G connectivity already achieved, more improvements will likely follow. This could place Bahrain as a country of choice for tech startups and digital nomads seeking to visit the Middle East. Similarly, a continuous increase in Bahrain’s 5G improvement will increase its chances of ranking alongside the world’s top 5G countries.
