BBBL3 wins top 2024 Radical Innovation Award

For revolutionising urban design and hospitality

In a stunning showcase of cutting-edge design and visionary thinking, the BBBL3 concept—an innovative fusion of urban design, architecture, and hospitality—has won the 2024 Radical Innovation Award.

Created by HKS Architects in collaboration with Roam Interior Design, the BBBL3, pronounced ‘Bubble,’ was named the winner during the 18th Annual Radical Innovation Awards ceremony held at the Current venue at Chelsea Piers in New York City on October 24, 2024.

The event, which attracted more than 130 industry leaders—including top architects, designers, real estate moguls, and innovators from around the globe—celebrated groundbreaking concepts set to reshape the future of the hospitality and urban design sectors.

The Radical Innovation Awards, launched in 2006, recognise pioneering ideas that challenge traditional norms and push the boundaries of what is possible in architecture, design, and travel.

This year, the innovative BBBL3 stood out for its unique ability to combine technology, nature, and luxury in a way that transcends traditional design. As cities become more congested and urban life increasingly stressful, the BBBL3 concept offers a transformative escape.

Dynamic environment

The ‘Bubble’ is not just a space; it is a dynamic environment designed to reconnect individuals with themselves, their surroundings, and a more profound sense of tranquillity—right in the heart of bustling metropolitan landscapes.

Drawing inspiration from the organic forms of water droplets and splashes, the BBBL3 is a sculptural, multi-sensory space designed to evolve with its users. By seamlessly blending state-of-the-art technology with natural elements, the space offers an immersive experience where guests can escape the chaos of city life and embark on personalised journeys of relaxation and discovery.

Whether it is a private wellness retreat, a surreal dining experience, or a sensory exploration powered by AI, the BBBL3 offers something unique.

Guests can enter different ‘realms’ within the Bubble: Evoke, where culinary artistry combines with immersive design to offer personalised dining experiences; Dreamscape, a wellness-focused space offering restorative, customisable environments; and Happening, a rejuvenating oasis where visitors can recharge both body and mind.

Each realm adapts to the individual’s needs, engaging all five senses—sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell—to create deeply personalised experiences.

Advanced AI technology

The BBBL3 allows users to customise their journey through advanced AI technology, adjusting everything from lighting to scent and sound, ensuring that each moment is tailored to their preferences. The result is a unique experience beyond relaxation—it sparks creativity, fosters connection, and offers a sense of freedom and serenity seldom found in modern urban spaces.

Designed to integrate seamlessly into urban environments, the BBBL3 represents the future of sustainable luxury living. It offers an oasis within the concrete jungle and catalyses urban renewal. The space promotes green living and sustainable practices while supporting local economies and fostering community engagement. Its modular design allows it to fit into various cityscapes worldwide, transforming underutilised spaces into vibrant, eco-conscious hubs.

The award-winning BBBL3 concept was developed through a partnership between HKS Architects, a global leader in architecture and design known for its innovative solutions to complex challenges, and Roam Interior Design, an interdisciplinary luxury design firm known for creating immersive, story-driven environments.

The collaboration between these two forward-thinking firms has resulted in a concept that is not just a physical space but a transformative experience.

Mary Alice Palmer and Olga Acosta, Founding Partners of Roam, are particularly excited about the potential of BBBL3 to redefine luxury and wellness spaces. “BBBL3 represents everything we stand for at Roam: limitless creativity, an exploration of the impossible, and creating environments that inspire people to dream bigger,” says Palmer.
