CASE designs a unique compact track loader

Inspired by Metallica’s James Hetfield

At the Helping Hands charity concert on December 13, 2024, held at the YouTube Theatre in Inglewood, California, a special edition CASE TV450B compact track loader, designed by CNH Industrial, caught the attention of attendees. The loader was inspired by Metallica’s representative, James Hetfield.

Metallica threw their fourth Helping Hands Concert & Auction, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the band All Within My Hands Foundation. The non-profit, founded in 2017, is dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services.

Hetfield, who also co-founded Metallica, commissioned this custom design as part of a collaboration with CASE, a brand under the CNH umbrella. The design process began with proposals from Hetfield’s career and personal style. John Piper, a rising design talent within CNH, submitted the winning concept.

Piper’s concept incorporated elements from Hetfield’s tattoos, such as a skull with wings and the iconic font in Metallica’s album artwork. Additionally, he drew inspiration from Hetfield’s hotrod pinstriping and his famous Snakebyte electric guitar, specifically requesting a sandy camouflage pattern to represent the guitar’s look.

The custom design was brought to life under the leadership of CNH Senior Designer Darin Weisensel, who oversaw the loader production at CASE’s Wichita, USA, facility. The CASE TV450B is known for its versatility and durability. It is commonly used in construction, landscaping, and other heavy-duty tasks.

This special edition loader, now part of Hetfield’s ranch operations, is a testament to the collaboration between CNH Industrial and the iconic musician. It blends rugged utility with personal artistic flair. The loader showcases both Hetfield’s influence and CASE’s commitment to innovation, resulting in a machine that is as unique as it is functional.

The loader’s debut at the Helping Hands event highlights the ongoing partnership between Hetfield’s charity and CNH, marking another successful chapter in their collaboration. The event itself raises funds for community-focused initiatives supported by Metallica’s foundation.
