Championing Fitness Excellence in the Middle East: The Fit Guide Launches in Dubai

The Fit Guide (TFG), the international rating system revolutionizing the fitness industry, has launched in Dubai after successful launches in New York, London, Singapore and Sydney.

Serving as a global standard of excellence that recognizes the world’s leading fitness studios and experiences, TFG marked its arrival in the Middle East with its final city launch of the year, announcing the winners at the region’s biggest fitness and wellness expo, Dubai Active Industry.

Out of the 50 clubs originally selected for inclusion in Dubai, only three achieved the The Fit Guide 5-Star Award, its highest accolade, and a testament to an exceptional, world-class fitness experience. These industry-leading clubs were Chalk Training Ground, Palm Jumeirah, Storm Cycling, Mirdif and The Platform Studios DIFC. An additional 20 clubs have been acknowledged for their excellence, earning The Fit Guide 4-Star Award. TFG also highlights leading clubs in the city that have received special mentions as “Recommended.”

TFG has previously awarded six 5-Star Awards to New York and London, and one 5-Star Award to Sydney, putting Dubai up amongst the top cities in the world for fitness studios and experiences.

TFG’s ratings are based on evaluations of over 250 objective standards that cover every aspect of a truly premium fitness experience, from the initial phone call through to post-class sales and service. Clubs are then awarded TFG star ratings for each category as well as an overall rating, and are ranked based on their scores. Each featured club in TFG Dubai has been visited anonymously by highly-trained, incognito “experience evaluators”, using a process that is unbiased and independent.

Jack Thomas, co-founder of TFG and host of the Fitness Business Asia podcast, shared his excitement about the Dubai launch, saying; “Dubai is undoubtedly the fitness capital of the Middle East and where a lot of innovation happens in the region, so we’re delighted to have a presence here.” He added, “After launching in five cities, we now have a lot of interesting data. Dubai did great overall, scoring above average in some areas such as reception services, but behind in other areas such as our Digital and Technology section. We look forward to sharing this data to help the industry reflect and improve.”

At the Dubai Active Industry launch, other clubs were recognized for their excellence in the five evaluation categories, such as 1Rebel DIFC which was awarded five stars for Facilities and Public Areas, Level Up Pilates for exceptional pre- and post-class service and CRANK for its commitment to the digital and technology side of the experience.

Tom Reece, Marketing Director for IEG Middle East, the organisers of Dubai Active Industry’s CEO Forum commented: “We were thrilled to learn that Dubai scored above the worldwide average for the overall experience, showing that this region can go head-to-head with the industry’s best brands. The data that was shared at our show will be useful for improvement and certainly sparked some positive conversations amongst business owners I’m excited to see how we can improve for next year’s visits!”

TFG was founded by fitness industry veteran Jack Thomas and hospitality expert Matt Lavender, both renowned figures in their respective industries with over 25 years of combined experience.
