Cognizant and Siemens forge partnership

To transform software-defined vehicles

Cognizant has partnered strategically with Siemens Digital Industries Software, integrating Siemens’ PAVE360 into its software-defined vehicle (SDV) solution accelerator.

The partnership introduces an enhanced accelerator to address the automotive industry’s increasing demand for innovation, customisation, and hyper-personalisation.

The partnership features Siemens’ Simcenter Prescan, a powerful tool for sensor modelling and scenario-based testing. Together, these technologies accelerate the SDV development cycle and enable continuous simulated verification and validation throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.

By streamlining development processes, the collaboration is set to reduce delivery times for new vehicle features while managing the growing complexity of software integration from multiple platforms and components.

As the automotive sector evolves, carmakers face pressure to innovate quickly while keeping up with the increasing demands for personalised vehicle experiences. The shift towards continuous verification and validation during vehicle development calls for partnerships that can provide robust, flexible solutions.

Sidhant Rastogi, President of Zinnov, highlighted the importance of software as a key differentiator in the automotive industry. “We are already in an era where software is the differentiating factor in the automotive industry. An ecosystem-driven approach is essential for building the capabilities required for SDVs,” Rastogi said. He emphasised the critical role of the Cognizant-Siemens collaboration in accelerating product development cycles to meet today’s competitive pressures.

The automotive industry also faces challenges in managing software complexity, as modern vehicles contain over 100 million lines of code. The Cognizant solution accelerator addresses these issues by enabling continuous, simulated verification and validation to ensure more efficient development processes.

David Fritz, Vice President of Hybrid and Virtual Systems at Siemens, explained that this partnership aligns perfectly with the growing demand for more adaptable and personalised vehicles. “Cognizant’s expertise in scalable, hardware-agnostic software development aligns perfectly with our goals to innovate and meet the increasing demands of the automotive market,” Fritz said.

Aditya Pathak, Vice President and Americas Head of Auto, Transportation and Logistics at Cognizant, added: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Siemens to drive the future of mobility through our advanced solution accelerators. Our expertise will help deliver exceptional vehicle experiences and capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry.”

Amol Gulve, the SDV offering leader at Cognizant, presented the collaboration at CES 2025, held from January 7 to 10, 2025, showcasing how the two companies are helping to shape the future of automotive technology.

The collaboration between Cognizant and Siemens signifies a significant step forward in developing next-generation vehicles. It ensures that automotive manufacturers can meet the complex demands of modern consumers while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
