DEWA Unveils 4th Round of Master’s Programme in Future Energy Systems & Technology:

Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive V.P. of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, Professor Tarek Zohdi, Program Director at UC Berkeley College of Engineering, as well as representatives from UC Berkeley and DEWA, attended the virtual launch of the initiative, which aims to empower young Emirati employees. 30 new students have joined the program, bringing the total number of participants—both male and female employees—who have benefited from it to 173.

DEWA’s Efforts To Shape The Future Of The UAE And Dubai Through Education And Innovation

H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated that the wise vision and orders of the Ruler of Dubai, HRH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum have made Dubai a center for innovation and skilled talent. He further stated that they want to train and give power to a generation that will be able to keep up with the government of the future and think about the future. Al Tayer added that they had adopted a comprehensive strategy to invest in their staff.

Together with the University of California, Berkeley, DEWA launched the Master’s degree in Future Energy Systems and Technology in 2019. This is part of their ongoing effort to make the UAE and Dubai a leading hub for shaping the future. Al Tayer explained that the program is a one-of-a-kind Master’s program with a focus on the future that will teach UAE citizens.

He said that the program’s cutting-edge courses, like A.I. and Cybersecurity, are important for understanding the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, working to stop climate change, and making the switch to a green economy. Al Tayer told the students that their goal is to have employees who are technically skilled, smart, and forward-thinking. They expect them to be sincere, focused on quality, thoughtful, and change-making in how they act and what they do.

In order to accomplish this, DEWA has partnered with some of the best universities and study centers in the world. He pointed out that DEWA and UC Berkeley worked together to create the Master’s Programme in Future Energy Systems & Technology.
