Dubai Harbour district to get a 2-lane traffic bridge
Dubai’s RTA and Shamal Holding sign bridge JV
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has partnered with Shamal Holding, a Dubai-based diversified investment firm, to enhance vehicular connectivity to the Dubai Harbour district located between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah.
Under the newly signed agreement, Dubai’s RTA will construct a 1.5 km-long bi-directional two-lane vehicular traffic bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour district. No completion date was provided for the project.
On completion, the bridge is expected to reduce travel time from Sheikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour district from 12 minutes to three minutes.

The bridge will extend from the fifth intersection on Sheikh Zayed Road, near American University in Dubai, to Dubai Harbour Street.
The bridge route will pass through key traffic intersections, including Al Naseem Street with Al Falak Street and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.
Additional improvement
To enhance traffic flow, the project will include road surface improvements at four crucial intersections along the bridge’s route.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chair of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s RTA, stated the bridge will accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour.
Abdulla Binhabtoor, Chief Portfolio Management Officer at Shamal Holding, expressed his pleasure at collaborating with Dubai’s RTA on the bridge development project. He emphasised the alignment of the venture with Shamal Holding’s commitment to creating exceptional residential and tourist communities in harmony with Dubai’s urban and architectural development plans.
