Dubai Metro network awarded ISO 55001 certification
Keolis-MHI operates the driverless system
The Dubai Metro network has been awarded ISO 55001 certification for its asset management practices. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority owns the driverless metro system, which is operated on its behalf by Keolis-MHI.
The ISO 55001 certification underscores Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority’s dedication to operational excellence and sustainability within the Dubai emirate’s public transportation infrastructure. It also highlights the authority’s long-term strategy for effective asset management, aligning with its vision of enhancing the performance and lifecycle sustainability of Dubai City’s transportation systems.
Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of the Rail Maintenance Department at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority’s Rail Agency, said: “This certification reflects Dubai RTA’s leadership in asset management. It signifies Dubai Metro’s continued commitment to world-class efficiency, performance, and sustainability.
“We are focused on innovating and improving asset performance while minimising lifecycle costs, which aligns with our mission to create a smarter and more sustainable future for Dubai’s public transportation network.”
David Franks, Managing Director of Keolis-MHI, added: “Receiving ISO 55001 certification for asset management is a major milestone for Dubai Metro. It represents our dedication to maintaining world-class standards, prioritising safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. It also demonstrates our joint commitment to innovation and sustainability as we continue to lead in urban mobility.”
ISO 55001 certification is an international standard that outlines the requirements for an effective asset management system. It helps organisations responsibly manage their assets’ lifecycles, ensuring they are aligned with legal, regulatory, and operational requirements. The certification is issued by the non-governmental International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
Achieving ISO 55001 certification demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to efficient asset management, which includes planning, risk management, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
The standard supports better decision-making, cost control, and performance optimisation while reducing risks associated with asset failure. ISO 55001 is valuable for organisations seeking to improve their asset management practices and align with global best practices.
