Emirates deploys a refurbished Boeing 777
Dubai carrier is updating its passenger aircraft fleet
Emirates has rolled out its newly refurbished Boeing 777 passenger aircraft. The aircraft, which has undergone a complete cabin overhaul, made its inaugural flight as a refurbished aircraft from Dubai to Geneva on August 7, 2024.
Emirates’ in-house engineering team executed the extensive 37-day refurbishment of the aircraft. The overhaul is part of the Dubai-based carrier’s aim to enhance passenger experience.
The Business Class cabin has been redesigned for enhanced privacy. The 38 seats, arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, convert into flat beds up to 78.6 inches long and feature a padded headrest.

Each seat has a personal mini-bar, dining or work table, multiple charging outlets, and a 23-inch HD screen. A small bar area for mid-flight refreshments adds to the convenience and luxury of the business-class experience.
The refreshed Premium Economy cabin features 24 seats arranged in a 2-4-2 layout. These cream leather seats feature wood panelling, a 38-inch pitch, 19.5-inch width, an 8-inch recline, and 6-way adjustable headrests, ensuring greater passenger comfort.
256 Economy Class seats
The Economy Class cabin, featuring 256 seats, has been updated with soft greys and blues, full leather headrests, and adjustable side panels for optimal support. The airline’s distinctive half-tree motif remains a distinctive element throughout the cabin.
The aircraft’s refurbishment process in Dubai, involving significant partners and hundreds of skilled workers, utilised 330 square metres of carpet, 340 laminate sheets, 8,000 square feet of leather, 800 metres of fabric, and 300 litres of paint.
The 777’s refurbishment is part of Emirates’ $3 billion investment in upgrading its passenger aircraft fleet. The airline plans to refurbish 80 more Boeing 777s and 191 Airbus A380s, introducing 8,104 next-generation Premium Economy seats, 1,894 updated First-Class suites, 11,182 upgraded Business Class seats, and 21,814 Economy Class seats across its fleet.
Emirates President Tim Clark said: “With this latest Boeing 777, we continue to fulfil our promise of delivering an unparalleled onboard experience. The new cabins feature our latest signature interiors, elevating industry standards for premium travel.
“Our updated Business Class offers unparalleled exclusivity and privacy while introducing the Premium Economy cabin, which adds sophistication to the flying experience.”
