Emtelle unveils $50-million global innovation centre and manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi
Targeting MENA and APAC markets
Emtelle, the Hawick, Scotland-headquartered global manufacturer of pre-connectors, blown fibre cable, and ducted network solutions, has unveiled its new $50-million global innovation and manufacturing facility in the Kezad economic zone in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This location was selected due to its strategic position in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, advanced infrastructure, and supportive business environment. This capability promises faster delivery, increased production capacity, and streamlined services to Emtelle’s customers throughout the MENA and APAC markets, including the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
Inaugurated on October 30, 2024, under balmy skies, the state-of-the-art 48,000 sqm facility is one of the world’s largest for manufacturing, distribution, and R&D of pre-connectors, blown fibre units, and ducted network solutions. It is equipped with cutting-edge technology and advanced manufacturing processes.
Ground for the three-phase facility was broken on March 18, 2023.
Strategic location
The new facility is strategically located to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet and telecom infrastructure regionally and globally. Designed as a build-to-suit (BTS) solution, the advanced hub will manufacture passive telecommunication network solutions, including micro duct tube bundles and award-winning connector fibre solutions.
Emtelle’s $50 million investment in the facility is a significant step towards realising the UAE’s ambitions for digital transformation, 5G deployment, and homeland security needs. The facility is particularly poised to enhance the Arabian Gulf state’s telecom infrastructure and support the nation’s aim of developing smart cities and connected communities through innovative and sustainable telecom solutions, instilling optimism for the country’s technological future.
The facility will employ energy-efficient technologies and resource management systems to minimise environmental impact, demonstrating Emtelle’s commitment to sustainability.
The new establishment is also set to create a significant number of employment opportunities for skilled workers in Abu Dhabi emirate, including roles in manufacturing, R&D, and management. This will foster local talent and contribute to the emirate’s economic landscape.
Enhanced capacity
Tony Rodgers, CEO of Emtelle Group, said the new facility is crucial for the company’s long-term strategy to increase capacity and efficiency in the MENA region, one of the company’s fastest-growing markets.
He noted that manufacturing at the Kezad hub will reduce lead times and strengthen Emtelle’s commitment to meeting regional demands.
Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities & Free Zones at AD Ports Group, welcomed the facility as a significant addition to Kezad’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem. He highlighted its role in reinforcing Kezad’s appeal as a global business hub and aligning with industry 4.0 initiatives that enhance productivity and efficiency.
