Experience the Adventure of a Lifetime with Gulf for Good’s Mt. Kilimanjaro Ladies-Only Challenge
Here’s a unique opportunity for any woman with an adventurous spirit to not only challenge themselves but also do it for a worthy cause. The upcoming Gulf for Good Mt. Kilimanjaro Ladies Only Challenge is a perfect way to support a charitable initiative while conquering Africa’s tallest peak. The empowering expedition is scheduled to take place between July 15th- 25th with the goal of raising AED 5,000 (per participant) for The Foundation of African Empowerment (FAE).
The challenge will bring together women from different parts of the world who share a common goal of making a positive impact on the lives of others. During the expedition, you will trek through diverse landscapes, make lasting connections, create unforgettable experiences, and contribute to meaningful causes that make a big difference in the world.
The Ladies-only expedition has been organised to provide a supportive and empowering environment for women. It offers an opportunity for women to challenge themselves physically and mentally in a safe and inclusive space. Participants can expect to build strong relationships with each other through camaraderie and solidarity while also benefiting from a range of activities specifically tailored to their needs.
Charity Overview
The Foundation for African Empowerment (FAE) is a nonprofit non-governmental organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable children and youth, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, through various projects in Tanzania. These projects encompass inclusive education, healthcare and nutrition, water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives, empowerment programs for families and young people, efforts to combat children, adolescents, and family violence, as well as awareness-raising and advocacy endeavors.
Some of the challengers have shared their thoughts on the upcoming Kilimanjaro challenge:
Julia MacDonald, Pilates Instructor:
“I have been following the wonderful job Gulf for Good is doing as a charity for many years and did many local hikes with them. However, my dream was always to join one of the international challenges and challenge myself physically and mentally. As I am approaching 50 soon, I have decided this is a “now or never” situation and have signed up to climb Kilimanjaro in July 2024. I am very excited about the journey, especially as I will be climbing the mountain with a few of my Pilates clients and friends who decided to join me! I believe this will be a wonderful experience and a trip we will never forget! Plus, I am looking forward to telling the Kili story to my grandchildren once they are born “
Maya Ghrewati, Mum
“I turned 50 this year, and I wanted to have a goal that I could work towards, an incentive to get fitter and stronger, and an inspiration for my children. I believe we grow when we take ourselves out of our comfort zone, and so I wanted to challenge myself physically and mentally. If I achieve this goal, I will be very proud of myself.”
Ellie Ashton, Gulf for Good Challenge Rep
“Mount Kilimanjaro isn’t just about conquering a peak; it’s about empowering women to conquer their own personal summits, both on the mountain and beyond. As a challenge representative, I’m thrilled to lead this incredible journey where we’ll challenge ourselves, support each other, and celebrate every step of the way. Together, we’re not just climbing a mountain; we’re breaking barriers and making a real difference in the lives of others.”
