The first time the low-cost carrier has won the honour

flydubai, the Dubai-based low-cost carrier, has clinched the ‘Airline of the Year’ award at The Aviator Middle East Awards 2023, formerly known as The Aviation Business Middle East Awards.

This marks the first time flydubai has received this accolade, further solidifying its position as a leader in the Middle East aviation sector. Daniel Kerrison, Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations at flydubai, accepted the award on behalf of the airline.

The recognition was bestowed upon flydubai at a ceremony held in Dubai on December 12, 2023, attended by key regional travel and aviation industry figures.

Voted on by industry experts, the award acknowledges flydubai’s outstanding contributions to the aviation sector in the Middle East. The airline’s numerous achievements and sustained growth were pivotal in securing the accolade at the awards ceremony in Dubai.

flydubai was commended for setting industry standards through its commitment to passenger satisfaction, safety, innovation, and regional operational excellence.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are honoured to have been awarded ‘Airline of the Year’ at the Aviator Middle East event. This award recognises our commitment to making travel more accessible across the region, providing the right product at the right time, and supporting Dubai’s aviation hub.”

flydubai has been on an upward trajectory throughout 2023, expanding its network by adding over 20 destinations.

The latest destinations on the carrier’s routing include Krabi and Pattaya in Thailand, Milan-Bergamo in Italy, Cairo in Egypt, and Poznan in Poland. The airline is set to launch flights to Mombasa in Kenya on January 17, 2024, and Langkawi and Penang in Malaysia on February 10, 2024.

The airline’s growing network now encompasses more than 120 destinations in 54 countries, served by a modern and efficient fleet comprising over 81 Boeing 737 aircraft. flydubai continues its expansion, with plans to receive more aircraft and extend its network. This growth is further supported by a recruitment drive to attract top talent to the airline.

flydubai made significant announcements at the 2023 Dubai Airshow, including a landmark order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a multimillion-dollar Full-Flight Simulator and Training Facility, and the establishment of a purpose-built Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility.

Earlier this year, the airline achieved a ‘Four-Star Major Airline’ rating from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) for the first time.
