UAE aims to be an AI world leader by 2031
The rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping international markets, and the upcoming GITEX Global 2024, promoted as the world’s largest tech and startup event, will showcase this momentum from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
A recent surge in AI investments—Goldman Sachs projects global AI investment could reach $200 billion by 2025, while Bloomberg estimates that the generative AI market alone may soar to $1.3 trillion by 2032—spurred by growing demand across industries, including health, finance, cybersecurity, and public services, has also sparked a race among businesses to attract specialised talent capable of working in the ever-evolving AI space.
Over 3,500 tech brands are set to converge in Dubai for GITEX Global 2024, marking a pivotal gathering of the global tech community. The event will feature industry experts, founders, investors, and government leaders showcasing cutting-edge AI technologies and forging collaborations for future advancements.
GITEX this year will address key issues surrounding the global AI economy, including ethical development, quantum computing, large language models, and AI’s impact on sectors such as education, health, and finance.
AI hub
The UAE has made significant strides in establishing itself as a global AI hub, driven by a long-term governmental agenda to harness AI’s full potential. The country aims to be a world leader in AI by 2031, aligning with its National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Initiatives are underway in the Arabian Gulf state to integrate AI across various sectors, including public services, energy, tourism, and education.
Dubai emirate has launched the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, a strategic plan to accelerate AI adoption. This initiative aims to contribute AED100 billion annually to the emirate’s economy and enhance productivity by 50% through digital solutions.
As a cornerstone of the UAE’s AI-driven economy, GITEX Global 2024 will host tech giants such as Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia alongside leading regional companies like Presight and the Technology Innovation Institute.
The event will also feature a lineup of international speakers, including industry leaders from Airbus, Sony AI, and Biogen, who will engage in thought-provoking discussions about the future of AI.
