How to get to GITEX Global 2024 and Expand North Star 2024 in Dubai
Dubai authorities partner for visitors’ deluge
Ahead of GITEX Global 2024 and co-located Expand North Star 2024, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the twin events’ organiser, has announced extensive preparations in collaboration with the Dubai Events Security Committee, Dubai Police, and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, to ensure a smooth and secure experience for the tens of thousands of expected visitors.
GITEX Global 2024, the world’s largest tech and startup event, will take place from October 14 to 18 at DWTC premises. Expand North Star, the world’s largest startup and investor event, will take place from October 13 to 16 in Dubai Harbour.
Integrated operational plans
An integrated operational programme has been developed to accommodate the large influx of attendees at both events, focusing on road traffic management and visitor safety.

Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, said: “Our preparations reflect the status of Dubai emirate in organising international exhibitions.”
Public transport encouragement
GITEX Global 2024 and Expand North Star 2024 attendees are strongly encouraged to use public transportation options, such as Dubai RTA buses, the Dubai Metro and Tram networks, and taxis, to reduce congestion.
Abdulrahman Obaid Abu Al Shawareb, EVP of Protocol and Security at DWTC, highlighted the importance of public transport for environmental sustainability, stating: “Our collaboration with Dubai RTA is vital to delivering a seamless experience for everyone involved.”
Traffic management strategies
For those who drive to GITEX Global 2024, thousands of parking spaces have been allocated at DWTC and surrounding locations, including Al Wasl Club and Dubai Mall. Shuttle buses will transport visitors from these alternative parking areas to the event sites.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at Dubai RTA, confirmed that real-time traffic monitoring systems will be deployed to adjust traffic signals based on density, ensuring efficient flow during peak hours.
Navigating the event sites
In preparation for the expected volume of attendees, special attention has been given to managing visitor flow and accessibility. Major General Al Ghaithi advised drivers to follow traffic guidelines and use alternative routes to minimise congestion.
He noted: “Visitors can stay updated on traffic conditions via social media and the Dubai Police app,” while recommending routes like Al Mustaqbal Street and Al Sukuk Street for smoother access to the Financial Centre area.
At Dubai Harbour
With Dubai Harbour accommodating many Expand North Star 2024 visitors, Al Banna confirmed that ample parking spaces and shuttle services will connect the venue to Palm Jumeirah’s multi-storey car park and Nakheel Metro Station. Marine transport options are also set between Dubai Skydive parking and the event site.
