Hyatt Announces more Than 50% of Growth will lean into Leisure in EAME

Hyatt today announces plans for scaled growth in the leisure space in Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME) underscored by a record year of deal signings in 2023. Hyatt’s global record pipeline of more than 127,000 rooms as of year-end 2023 is supported by a regional pipeline of more than 70 properties spanning Hyatt’s distinct brand collections.

“The region continues to demonstrate high growth potential and is among the top global growth markets for Hyatt,” said Javier Águila, group president of Hyatt EAME. “More than half of our current pipeline has a clear focus on leisure, either through brand affiliation or destination. This proportion represents our strong commitment to expand our luxury leisure presence complementing our current portfolio in capital cities and sought-after business hubs.”

Middle East and Africa

In early 2025, Grand Hyatt Dubai is set to launch the first fully serviced five-star waterpark in the city-centre, minutes away from Downtown Dubai and other iconic landmarks. Spanning 20,000sqm, the family friendly water park will feature 15 rides, a thrilling wave pool, a dedicated area for toddlers and small children, private cabanas, and dining outlets. Available to guests staying at the property as well as visitors to Dubai, the waterpark aims to position Grand Hyatt Dubai as one of the most unique urban resorts in the world, a destination within a destination.

Nestled in the heart of the bustling city of Cairo, the art-focused Hyatt Centric Cairo West is set to open Q4 2024 and will offer a convenient location near iconic landmarks such as the Giza Pyramids and The Grand Egyptian Museum. The property itself is an artistic masterpiece, as guests are invited to experience the captivating fusion of Egyptian history and culture with its impressive collection of local art. The corridors of the hotel feature mesmerizing mirror installations, captivating wall art, intricate statues, and unique sculptures. The stylish fusion of local artistic excellence makes the trendy hotel a unique destination for art lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike.

Located in the vibrant financial district and business hub of Rosebank, Johannesburg, Park Hyatt Johannesburg is anticipated to open late 2024 and is perfectly suited for the discerning business traveler. With fast and uncapped Wi-Fi throughout the property, the hotel’s conference rooms and flexible meeting spaces are perfect for small group events including seminars, meetings, and team building activities. The suites are also designed for a productive work-cation, with a workstation, and the morning newspaper delivered at the doorstep every morning.

Europe

Whether a conference, small meeting or a large corporate party, Grand Hyatt Barcelona recently opened and will make any event a memorable occasion for all attendees. The hotel incorporates 22 meeting rooms over 35,000 square feet (3,400 square meters), combining captivating settings with state-of-the-art equipment and unparalleled service. The crown jewel of the meeting space facilities is the hotel’s 9,300-square-foot (864-square-meter) event space, designed to perfection for hosting conferences and large-scale events. Ideally positioned at the heart of Barcelona, the property’s diverse collection of venues, paired with personal attention from the team, makes the hotel the perfect solution for guest’s next meeting.

Additionally in Europe, Hyatt expects Zoëtry Halkidiki Resort & Spa and Park Hyatt London River Thames to open late 2024 and join the portfolio as highly anticipated openings in the region this year.

“Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection represents the largest luxury all-inclusive portfolio in the world and allows us to capture leisure growth opportunities in destinations new to Hyatt along the Mediterranean coast, the Black Sea and even in the Middle East,” added Águila. “We anticipate that the planned integration of London-based luxury hotel booking platform Mr & Mrs Smith will accelerate our asset-light expansion into the regional leisure space with their selection of luxury properties in countries where there are currently no Hyatt hotels.”

In capital and primary cities, the company is also poised to continue its growth momentum with additions like Andaz Doha and Thompson Rome, and is thoughtfully expanding its focus to resort destinations desirable to regional and international audiences with future projects like Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina, Alua Soul Costa Adeje or Miraval The Red Sea leading the pipeline.
