Ikea launches its FY2025 collection in UAE
New line centres on sleep quality
Ikea has launched its FY2025 collection in the UAE market, emphasising sleep quality. This marks a significant shift from the Swedish flat-pack furniture company’s previous years’ focus on multifunctional home spaces.
Studies commissioned by Ikea involving UAE residents note that 60% of respondents report insufficient rest, leading to an average sleep deficit of eight hours per week. This marks a shift from previous years, where Ikea claims that the focus was on creating multifunctional living spaces.
Ikea has introduced six products to enhance sleep quality in response to these insights. The Förnuftig air purifier, with its advanced filtration system, improves air quality by removing odours, pollen, and pollutants.
The Valevåg mattress offers firm support with its individual pocket springs and comfort zones, while the VAPPEBY speaker lamp helps create a relaxing atmosphere with soothing sounds.
The Töväder night light provides a comforting glow in five colours for children. The PAX wardrobe system promotes a clutter-free environment, which is crucial for restful sleep, and the Nattjasmin duvet cover set, made from a soft cotton/lyocell blend, helps regulate temperature for a comfortable rest.
Vinod Jayan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Ikea for UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and Oman, stated: “Our latest findings highlight the growing importance of sleep as a crucial element of overall wellbeing.
“We are dedicated to helping our customers create homes supporting their daily needs and health. By focusing on sleep quality, affordability, and sustainability, Ikea is committed to enhancing every home as a sanctuary for health and happiness,” he added.
Guinness World Record
On August 28, 2024, 2,051 Ikea employees gathered in Älmhult, Sweden, to set the Guinness World Record title for the largest assembly of people wearing two-piece pyjamas at a single venue. The milestone marked the start of Ikea’s year-long initiative to enhance sleep quality.
Managing Director of Ikea of Sweden, Fredrika Inger, said: “We are excited to come together to emphasise the significance of sleep. Good sleep is vital for everyone, and we believe that by focusing on it, we can make a real impact. Simple changes, such as selecting the right pillow or adjusting lighting, can lead to significant improvements. We aim to make these enhancements accessible, as quality sleep should be within everyone’s reach.”
Ikea’s year-long commitment to improving sleep stems from the ongoing challenge many face in achieving restful sleep despite recognising its importance. According to an Ikea Life at Home report, 55% of people consider sleep their top well-being activity at home. However, studies indicate that up to 50% of adults are dissatisfied with their sleep, affecting daily functioning and work performance.
