Ineos Automotive has resumed production at its Hambach facility in France after a brief halt caused by a critical seat shortage caused by supplier insolvency. The production line for the Grenadier and Quartermaster 4×4 models is now back in full swing, marking a key milestone for the company after the disruption at the end of last year.
The timely restart follows a November announcement, and the first vehicles have already begun leaving the plant, destined for retailers in 50 countries worldwide.
Ineos Automotive’s CEO, Lynn Calder, expressed her optimism for the year ahead, saying, “This is a great start for us, and I firmly believe it will be our best year yet. We will build on our impressive 41% year-on-year growth in 2024.”
Calder also highlighted the company’s success in expanding its global footprint. More than 20,000 Grenadiers are on roads and trails worldwide, and new markets like Mexico and China are contributing to the increasing demand.
The Hambach plant is entering its third full year of Grenadier production, and customer orders are already flowing in. The first vehicle produced in January was a Scottish White Utility Wagon, which will be shipped to southern France.
Two striking Devil Red models soon followed, introducing a new exterior colour. Devil Red is now the 11th available shade for the Grenadier and Quartermaster, and customers can choose between a contrast roof in white or black for an even bolder look.
The new year also marks the debut of the Grenadier 1924 special edition. With a limited run of just 1,924 units, this unique model celebrates Belstaff’s centenary with a package of key lifestyle accessories and premium design elements that add timeless style to the rugged 4X4.
Despite production setbacks, Ineos Automotive has remained focused on its long-term goals. The cessation of brilliant ForTwo production in 2024 has freed up space at the Hambach site, which is being repurposed for future product development.
Philippe Steyer, president of Ineos Automotive SAS, thanked customers, suppliers, and the production teams for their patience during the challenging period. Our Hambach facility is a testament to Ineos’s perseverance and determination. We are now ready to build on the solid foundations laid last year,” he added.
The Grenadier is currently available in 50 countries, including a few countries in the Middle East region.
