Lotus Technology receives GCC homologation for Eletre and Emeya EVs

Region is key market for the brand

Lotus Technology, a global leader in intelligent luxury mobility, has obtained local homologation certification for its Eletre (hyper-SUV) and Emeya (hyper-GT sedan) electric vehicle models in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The certification comes as Lotus Technology expands its footprint in a region celebrated for appreciating luxury automotive heritage, racing prowess, and cutting-edge technology. While Eletre deliveries are underway, reservations for the Emeya model have also opened.

In the automotive industry, homologation certifies that a vehicle or its components meet relevant authorities’ regulatory and safety standards. This procedure ensures that cars are safe, environmentally friendly, and comply with specific technical requirements.

The Eletre and Emeya models feature optional advanced intelligent driving software and bespoke services, including reservations for limited-edition models that can be personalised.

These services are facilitated by Lotus Robotics, a subsidiary of Lotus Technology, known for providing leading OEMs with sophisticated, intelligent driving solutions encompassing software, cloud toolchains, and integrated hardware.

Qingfeng Feng, CEO of Lotus Technology, said: “The GCC region has always been a key market for Lotus, given the brand’s long-standing racing heritage.

“This [GCC homologation certification] represents a significant step in our global expansion and aligns with our mission to deliver award-winning models that offer a best-in-class driving experience and state-of-the-art technologies to enthusiasts who share our passion.”

The Eletre is a 5.1-metre E-class SUV boasting up to 905 horsepower and a top speed of 265 km/h, depending on regional specifications. The Emeya, similarly sized at 5.1 metres, is a GT sedan that delivers up to 905 horsepower and reaches 256 km/h.

Lotus Technology, the luxury battery electric vehicle (BEV) maker that designs, develops, and sells luxury lifestyle vehicles, also plans to enhance the customer experience in the GCC region by launching new showrooms and stores in key urban locations. These will allow potential buyers to test-drive and experience Lotus vehicles’ exceptional performance and innovative driving dynamics.

With the Eletra and Emeya, Lotus Technology aims to reinforce its status as a premier luxury mobility provider in the rapidly evolving GCC automotive landscape.
